Richmond Marriott Short Pump

We were on a family road trip returning home, and stopped here to rest. Upon first encounter, most of the staff barely spoke english. We asked that a crib be ready for us, and they had no idea what we were talking about when we checked in. When I brought bags into our room from a side hall the overbearing smell of weed almost took me out. When we finally had a crib brought to us, the staff tried to put bedding into the crib, and when we told them a 9 month old doesn't use bedding the housekeeper seemed put off we told her no thank you. The shower flooded our bathoom because there's no way to keep water in. I was also excited for my morning coffee, but was disappointed to find the creamer they provided had expired. Normally we'd change rooms, but we arrived so late and the kids were exhausted. Everyone just wanted to sleep, but I think a prison bed was more comfortable than these mattresses.

Overall, I think this is a great hotel! The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The only suggestion would be the pools cleaning system. We noticed slimy like substances floating in the water. But my family would go back! Clean and spacious rooms.

The visit prior me and my family had to wait over an hour before check in. This last visit the shower was clogged so much that I was standing in water which was over my ankle in the shower. After I told the front desk lady who was checking me out she assumed I wanted a receipt and immediately told me she couldn’t supply one. This was only because a family member had just asked her for one prior. She claimed that she couldn’t supply one to my family however we’ve been staying at the same hotel each time we visit which has been for 4 years. This is the first time my family member was told no receipt was available and the front desk lady tried to argue about it.

My stay at the hotel wasn’t great. There must have been a sports event in the area because many families in the hotel which as fine. This issues was there were children knocking on my room door and running away. This happened several times within my first hour in the room. I told the front desk on my way out to dinner. Upon my return a couple hours later, there are children on my floor actively knocking on doors and running. I had to call the front desk again regarding this. This as very disappointing and interrupted the relaxing evening I had planned

Hotel was sold out even though I had a reservation. While the front desk was nice and helpful it took them a while to find my reservation even with my confirmation number. The hotel restaurant and bar was horrible. Not sure if they were understaffed, but when trying to find a table, there were a bunch of dirty tables and no one seemed to be working, I didn’t see a hostess or any servers. I stood at the bar to ask a question, there were two people behind the bar and only two people actually sitting at the bar, but no one even acknowledged me til I just openly had to get their attention to ask a question. I asked if my family could just grab a table to get food and they said yes, but after sitting at a table for ten minutes, still no one came up to offer us menus or drinks. With hungry kids, we decided we might try our luck with room service, but there were no menus or info regarding in room dining in the room so we just got DoorDash. There was also a wedding party in house, and the only available room was near the elevators so there were loud groups constantly passing our door late into the night. They even set off the fire alarms that alerted all the rooms in the building at midnight which just added to the unpleasant evening. I chose this hotel because I wanted a nice, quality hotel to stay at but this is not the quality I expect of a Marriott. Very disappointing.
