Our family visited Gatlinburg this week and booked our stay with Brookside Lodge. We were a little concerned with what to expect but we decided to trust the other reviews, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was dated, but that added to the overall charm. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the AC was cold. The balcony was a nice addition and we saw bears each day of our stay. We were easily able to walk from the hotel to downtown Gatlinburg, but for those who would rather take the trolley there is a stop right in front of the hotel. For the price we have zero complaints about our stay at Brookside and would absolutely book with them again.

Clean, spacious hotel rooms, with fireplace, small fridge with freezer compartment, coffee maker, microwave, and the best part: brookside balcony. Would be nice to have 2 extra patio chairs for when you stay with more than 2 ppl thoug. Decor is cute. The beds were kinda sunk in towards the middle and shaking with every small move. Towels etc are changed every day and the staff is quick to add more supplies if needed. Breakfast used to be more extensive, I heard, but it was enough for us: biscuits and gravy, individually wrapped pastries, pancakes (no-touch conveyor belt, cool for kids), yoghurt, apples, bagels, 3 types of cereal, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice and bottled water. It would be nice if there was a bigger variety of fruit, eggs and regular toast and deli meats, but it was sufficient. The pool is awesome, with waterfall, 2 pretty cool slides, a shallow kid's part and a hot tub. Pool towels available at reception. Pool was a little cool (last week August/1st of September), but the hot tub was comfortably hot. Coin washers and dryers available in the laundry room ($2 for washer, $2 for dryer, $1 for detergent and $1 for dryer sheets - super handy after bad weather). Staff is friendly and helpful. Free popcorn at lobby, and they have the cutest parrot in there. There are vending machines with some drinks at the pool. Despite some minuses, I still give 5 stars because we had a great time and would easily return! Lots of bear sightings at the premises too.

Our grandchildren loved the pool and the brook behind the hotel. We felt safe and the rooms were large and comfy. It was clean and the staff were very nice.

The front/main lock & door handle was broken, missing a screw. They didn’t fix it but showed me how to work around its issues. The door to the balcony door was very hard to open, close and lock. Again they didn’t fix it just showed me how to work around its issue. The breakfast was the bare minimum and there was no decaf coffee there or in the room. I can’t have caffeine so I was very disappointed. I don’t think they ever clean the stairs. So many cobwebs and small pieces of trash. The bed frame was a California king but the mattress was a regular sized king so there was a gap of about 6 inches which is picky of me but a small child playing on the bed could be seriously hurt falling into the gap. 1 time my used towels were taken away but no new clean towels were brought in to replace them.

STAY AWAY!!! Properly is extremely dirty!!! Our room smelt like urine and the floors were dirty. The balcony had cobwebs all over it and it needed a serious power washing. I was afraid to let my grandkids play on the floor. We didn't even stay the night it was so dirty. I tried to get another room, but I was told that no rooms were available eventhough the parking lot was empty. I tried to get my money refunded through Expedia, but was not successful. We booked another room in Gatlinburg for our two nights. This place needs a lot of attention. The elevator was even dirty. Stay as far away from this place as you can!!!

Staff was unbelievable helpful and personable. Right at the edge of all the Gatlinburg honky-tonk. I took my grandkids to the aquarium (a la the old VISA commercial- Moody Blues ' Tuesday Afternoon). They loved it. I loved it. Trout fishing in the Pigeon River was well received, too.

This is definitely one of the best places I have stayed. The running stream is a topper and can’t be beat. I will recommend this place to family and friends for years to come. I am definitely coming back next spring and would like to stay in the same room. Thank you

Hotel was great for the price. The room was freezing cold when we walked in, the main complaint that we had was a serious safety hazard. The elevator was missing the stop at the bottom and would make a hard jar with the door not opening all of the way. This seriously needs to be checked out. The lock on the door is not child proof. Do not recommend with small children. We were on the third floor and I didn’t get much sleep with fear that my child would sneak out during the night. Door opened from the inside for whoever. Very easy for kid to fall off of balcony.
