We were looking for a central place to stay while we toured the Black Hills, Custer Park, Deadwood, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Sturgis, etc. This worked out perfectly. Room was clean - easy check-in. Breakfast provided each morning with many options. The venue "turned into" a small restaurant after breakfast that had many snacky type items on the menu - also a bar available for adult drinks. The property is located adjacent to a water park - we didn't partake but there were many families enjoying the fun. The LaQuinta is located close to Perkins as well - a very short walk for dinner or an afterdinner dessert. Parking lot spacious and easy to access - seemed safe too. We'd stay again.

The pool is still there are all these years.
Breakfast arrangement works. It's a buffet, but arrangement uses the snack bar/restaurant so you have a booth to enjoy the start of the day in a relaxed manner without jockeying for a limited number of wobbly tables like other places I've stayed at.
Fun for a while, but as the kids get older it fails to have the same all day draw since no upgrades to the slides have been made. I don't count the birthday room as an upgrade.

Room was dirty! Hair in bathroom. Service was rude in the area to get bracelets to swim. We couldn’t get into our room magnetic strip in door had to be changed. No towels. Seen different types of bugs. It was very uncomfortable. Water area was ok for the kids but all together it just wasn’t what we hoped for after a long day of travel!

Overall it was a fine place to stay, good location. The water park is a separate charge and not included in your stay, which is a little deceiving as most hotel photos include photos of the water park as if they are together. The website also lists a children’s pool and slide but they do not have any other pool options besides the water park, so we were a little disappointed.
It was fine for a short stay, tends to be noisy in the rooms and halls but I suppose that’s to be expected with so many families.

Have always liked La Quinta and planned a stay for a trip to Mt Rushmore. Had no idea the hotel was literally connected to an indoor water park. Arrived about 6:00 after a 10 hour drive. Found a line at check in behind screaming kids. And it went downhill from there. Kids running up and down the halls and neighbors who were less than neighborly. Don’t stay here if you want peace and quiet.

The hotel was extremely busy with the water park attached. We were put on the 3rd floor with two young kids above us stomping and running back and forth for hours. I called the front desk and they said they would talk with them. That lasted about 10 minutes. I won't stay at a hotel with a water park attached again

Very noisy with kids running up and down the halls dogs barking not very comfortable.
Would not stay again. Don’t stay if you don’t have children as the Water Park is at the hotel.
