The Porter Portland, Curio Collection by Hilton

We had an excellent time at the Porter with our family of four with two kids (10 and 13). The room, though small, was clean and comfortable. The beds were nice and the room amenities were in good working order. The pool was fantastic, as were the hot tub, sauna, and gym. The service staff were very friendly. Parking was a bit of a surprise- valet only at $60/day - but if you factor that into the cost of the room, it’s actually kind of nice to have the valet service; the valets were very friendly (thanks, Don) and quick. The only reason I would choose a different hotel if I were to go back to Portland would be location. Downtown didn’t have much appeal for us. I would way rather stay across the bridge on the east side of the river.

Food at Restaurant was Not even good for their prices, Very disappointed wiyh yhe room ,, No privacy with the type of Doors for Bathroom, especially when you have kids or teenagers with you. Also the non stop noise from the elevators all night long.woulg NOT be staying their for sure

Just came for a staycation with my kids downtown, the check in was simple and the staff was so friendly. The hotel has a beautiful pool/hot tub area with steam room and sauna and my kids loved it! There are lots of amenities available and the hotel is in a very walkable area. Excellent stay, we will be back again.

Great stay, beautiful hotel with great service - Particularly from Tek. He was the epitome of customer service. Worked to get the best room for the family and provided suggestions of where to go. Beautiful pool, hotub, steam room, sauna and gym.

The pool was horrible. We checked in the hotel at 5:30 and head down to the pool. Got advised from other guests that the pool was chloride and we needed to wait to 6. The result was the pool was way over crowded and the smell of chloride got us feel headache and red eyes. So many people left including us. Pool opened at 9am close to the time of check out so pretty much I booked the hotel for my kids to enjoy the pool but we paid for nothing as not able to use it.

The hotel itself was nice, our family enjoyed the pool, it was close to a lot of dining options. The valet parking was a lot more expensive than we anticipated (more than twice what it has been in other cities we recently visited) and there really isn’t any other parking option nearby. The front desk was completely unresponsive, though. The 4-person room only had coffee, towels, etc for 2 people, and we had an issue with the shower. When we texted the lobby they responded but never made any attempt to help us. So, the place is nice but you are maybe on your own if you have any problems.

Yelp has much more accurate reviews as I noticed a lot of people experienced the same issue I encountered. The property is gorgeous. The service terrible. Actually appalling. When I arrived around 7:30pm The lobby was packed with guests who had been waiting for their rooms to be ready. Apparently the rooms weren’t cleaned in time for 4pm check in. They had been waiting several hours. Luckily my room was ready as I arrived late. This after standing in line for 25 minutes to check in. That’s not even the worst part. I left my room the next day and it wasn’t cleaned when I returned. I requested a room cleaning. They said they would. It didn’t happen. The next day I requested toilet paper cause the room wasn’t cleaned and stocked. They said they’ll bring it right up. They didn’t. I went out and when I returned in the late evening, the girl at the front desk tried to be helpful but couldn’t find the toilet paper. She said she would send someone up with it. I was a bit skeptical. She went back and found some. She was helpful but how does she not know where supplies are kept? The next day I called again to have the room cleaned as I left for the day. When I got back at night the room was still not cleaned. I was severely disappointed as this has never happened in any hotel stay I’ve ever had. Also no apology, no attempts to make things right. Other thing is the area is kinda like skid row. Lots of encampments sketchy walking around but the main issue is housekeeping and service.
