Holiday Inn Express Canandaigua - Finger Lakes, an IHG Hotel

We booked this hotel because the web site said the POOL was open, when we arrived with (2) of my grandchildren the pool was CLOSED. I would have booked another hotel with a real open pool had I known. I feel jipped.

I requested two rooms for our family because we were in town for a wedding. I was assured that we could get them close to each other at least on the same floor. This was confirmed on two occasions after calling the front desk. We got two rooms on two different floors. The woman that checked us was not pleasant. We felt like we were interrupting her when we were checking in. The pool and workout room were not in service. The breakfast was nice.

The check in staff was very friendly. The room appeared not to have been clean however it was our only choice since there were no other rooms available. The front desk staff did say they would come clean it but it was 9:45 at night and we had a child with us. There was hair in the shower and sink and on the floor. Ants on the tables. The tv did not work. There were candy wrappers stuck along the wall and random items under the bed.

Very clean. High ceilings and spacious. Bathroom was well appointed and large. Pleasant decor. Helpful staff at front desk; helped with directions and restaurant recommendation. Pool was clean, deep and saltwater. Our kids loved it. Breakfast was fine.

Stayed with son's family (3- and 5-year old grandchildren) for shopping expedition at Waterloo Premium Outlets -- about 30-40 min's away. Kids greatly enjoyed pool (about 5 hours total). Although pool capacity is only 10, we had it to ourselves 4 of the 5 visits. Could have been much less enjoyable, otherwise. Complimentary breakfast is acceptable: coffee; several cereals; fat-free and 2% milk; fruit; yogurt; juices; bread, jam, peanut butter; automatic pancake machine; 2 kinds of omelettes; turkey sausage; biscuits. Several malls nearby -- walkable if you're a walker. Attractive downtown just 3-5 minute drive away. Located back from the road so very quiet. Seems like a brand new hotel -- very clean -- altho I didn't check actual age. Free parking. Lemon water and cookie tray in lobby. 3 stories with single elevator. Small fitness room -- didn't try it. Typically, under-used so far as I could tell. Business center with two computers -- never saw anybody using. Free Wi-Fi.
