Holiday Inn Express Le Roy, IL, an IHG Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for one night on the way back from a family vacation. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was OK. We didn't feel that the person at the desk was very friendly and didn't really engage with us except to get our credit card and a form signed. It wasn't a "welcoming" experience if that makes sense. We noticed that there were some maintenance issues around the hotel, like light bulbs being burned out. All in all, the stay was fine, but we didn't think that it was quite the high standard that we usually see when staying with HI Express hotels.

I'm not sure what has happened since our last stay here in 2019 but the hotel has seriously gone down hill. From batter hallway corners, to mystery stains on lamps, curtains and walls to the disgusting grimy hair sprinkled calking around the bathtub that looks like a toddler did it. Not to mention the rusty gross soap holder. Just not up to snuff for the price or the brand. We'll drive to Bloomington back and forth the next time for better, cleaner options. The front desk staff was friendly but the housekeeping was rather surly. Other staff seemed more interested in hanging out front and smoking in groups than anything. Better of the two options in Leroy, but really not a great stay if you can hang in there to get to Urbana or Bloomington. I hope things get turned around but it doesn't look to be that way.

We called ahead of check-in to see if their were infant cribs available; there were none on property. Breakfast Sunday morning was poorly stocked (missing coffee, milk, etc) and the tables were unsanitary (breakfast Saturday & Monday were great).

Excellent staff ! ! I was very impressed with the staff (specifically the woman who checked us in - give her a raise!). My wife and I stay in the Bloomington area to visit family and have never stayed at this Holiday Inn but will from now on. We brought a dog and were booked on the third floor however upon check-in the woman asked if we would like to be moved to the first floor, next to a side door to make it easy to let the dog in and out…and she gave us a goody bag for the dog with some treats. The hotel seems to be brand new. Very clean and the “one king bed” room is very big (although I don’t know if our room might have been bigger because we were at the end of the hallway). Microwave and mini-fridge in the room. There is a big gas station and a great family restaurant close by, not much else, but that is to be expected in a small town such as this. Close to the highway. The price is a little more than I would like to spend on a hotel in Le Roy, IL but because of my experience I will be staying here again.

We were not given connecting rooms, though we requested in booking. We had children with us, so it was difficult with no connection. The rooms were not on the same floor, but the desk manager moved them for us. One of the rooms we got had a leaky toilet and the air conditioner was broken. We were moved to another room at 12am. The rooms smelled of cigarettes and mildew. We will not likely stay here again. The pool was chilly- kids didn’t want to go in. The man working the desk was kind.

Great for families. Breakfast a big plus. Total package very affordable
