It was such a bad experience I ever had. Also, they charged $25 per day which it didn't mention, I didn't want to ruin my family trip, so I didn't argue. Also, room was so small, bed wasn't king bed even I booked for king bed. So sleep condition was not comfortable at all. Plus, Cleanness of the room was below. Bugs in the room. It wasn't just one bug. I took a picture eventually because I was tired to kill them. Even Inn level could be better. The hotel name is just Hilton not a same level service that you can get from normal Hilton in different locations. I won't go back to this hotel at all even I am planning to visit Chicago every July for my annual conference.

My experience at the Palmer House Hilton Chicago, booked through Hotels.com, was marred by numerous disappointments and frustrations. Neither the hotel nor the website informed us of two 'teen' conventions happening that weekend, resulting in overcrowded facilities. The valet service took almost an hour, and I had to leave my car to seek assistance. The pool was overrun with unruly children, and the absence of adult swimming hours was disheartening. Additionally, the $25 destination fee was poorly explained, and attempts to cancel one of our reservations weeks in advance were met with unhelpful responses from both the hotel and the website, with constant passing off between the two entities. The rooms we booked were vastly different in size and quality, with one room even having a toilet crammed against the wall. Paint peeling in places further detracted from the supposed luxury of the Palmer House. The only redeeming aspect was the help of Misha in Reservations. The ordeal of fighting with both Hotels.com and the Palmer House for cancellation due to a medical emergency was utterly disheartening and soured our entire experience before arrival. I had higher expectations from a renowned Hilton property and the Palmer House Chicago. Hotels.com's mismanagement of our reservation, including losing loyalty points, compounded the dissatisfaction. I will unlikely return to the Palmer House and will never use Hotels.com again, regardless of potential savings.

We stayed for NYE and the hotel is beautiful and loved all the charm but did expect a bit more as far as celebration in the hotel. We did not do the big party package but thought they may do more in the lobby for families.

The Palmer House is as iconic as the city of Chicago itself, and it's hard not to feel like a part of history staying there. The common areas are all impeccably maintained down to the subtle scenting in the hallways. Fitness center was phenomenal. Pool is small but nice, lot of families with young kids when I was there and nothing wrong with that. My biggest complaint was that within my room, the bathroom needed some serious repairs. Door and shower curtain both falling off the wall. They offered to change my room but I had already unpacked and ironed my shirts. They charge a $25 resort fee, but you can recoup that with the $25 dining credit. Besides, I would have happily paid an extra $25/night for the rate I got. Overall, I'm pleased with my stay.

Disappointed that having to leave a day early due to a death in our family, 3 hours from Chicago, the 2nd night would not be refunded AND we were charged $122 at checkout for “early departure fee!” After a phone call to them we were told the $122 would be removed and a receipt would be emailed. Have not received the email.
