Venice on the Beach Hotel

You cannot beat this location in terms of proximity to the beach. But the room is tiny (maybe 150 sq ft?) and kind of dingy - really needs to be updated badly. We arrived at 1030pm, and the doors were locked, there were no parking spaces available (and no on-street parking), and nobody answered the phone the first time I called, which was alarming. I called back, and someone answered and came to the door, and freed up a parking space (I somehow missed that this was an additional $20 per day??) by moving his car. He was very kind and helpful. The neighborhood didn't feel particularly safe to me at night. This strikes me as the kind of place college kids would love if they were going to the beach for a few days. But it was not at all what I expected.

Staff is great. Place is old but you can tell they work hard to keep it as clean as possible. It’s right by the beach and room was not humid nor did it have any sand from a previous stay. It smelled clean. Bed was very comfortable. Room’s mini split kept it really nice and cold. The cons are the lack of parking spaces. The entrance to the hotel is on a tiny alley so that’s a problem for someone with a big, family vehicle like ours. Some kids were hanging around outside in their vehicles taking parking spaces and they were clearly not staying at the hotel and were not asked to leave. If you take a vehicle and are able to get a parking spot, you’re better off getting an Uber to take you places. Shower is super tiny. No Tub. Room is very small but can still accommodate 4 people. No Microwave. Towels are small. Toiletries are nice. Beach is right there. It’s beautiful, quiet and very clean. You can walk to Venice/Muscle beach which is much louder, full of people and with many things to do. There is a Starbucks at walking distance and lots of restaurants.

Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The only thing i would recommend would be to reserve parking the same time you book a room, the parking spots fill up quick and it would be a lot easier had we reserved parking sooner. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends!
