The hotel was nicely designed but located on. It is super busy street. The ocean view was great, but you could not open the window because of the loud noise of the main street in front of the hotel. The service and staff was wonderful. The pool was, very unimpressive, it was too small and not enough chairs. We couldn’t enjoy the outside because there were too many families with little children everywhere.

Everything about the Viceroy is top notch. The staff are amazing. The room we had was spacious. The lobby and restaurant are great places to gather and very child friendly. Great location for both the beach and all of the West side.

Im always looking for helpful reviews so here it comes. 1. Hotel is extremely clean, tidy, modern decor, and well kept 2. Pool is small but has a cute area around it to sit 3. Amenities are beautifully decorated, restaurant and coffee shop right in the lobby 4. Literally 5 min walk to the Santa Monica pier, lovely area with a nice beach and fun for kids and adults 5. Pretty central location to the rest of the areas in california 6. Parking is extremely expensive so beware ($60 a night) 7. We were working during our stay and we struggled to find a quiet area to take calls/work. Just an FYI for anyone expecting a lobby/business lounge Overall; we are extremely happy and would stay here again. Special thank you to BJ, John, and Paola. They were always kind and courteous. Everyone on their staff was very lovely, I would name them all if I could !

Recently stayed here with my husband and two small children. We were so excited to stay, what a disappointment. Firstly, we made multiple requests prior to check in to help ease the process of getting off an international flight with two small kids, they replied via email saying they’d meet the requests but when we checked in, nothing was done - this included having two cribs set up in our room for our kids to sleep in and having a kettle in the room (for preparing & sterilising bottles). We called multiple times and no answer to have these requests met. The next morning we were woken at 7am by staff protesting in the car park, right outside our room - loud noises, drums, music and someone yelling into a megaphone. Our kids were asleep, well not for long!!! It was very disturbing. This happened every morning during our stay! Not helpful when you normally have kids on a sleep schedule and trying to get over jet lag from a long haul flight from Australia! We asked for a partial refund due to the disruption but we were told we’d have to ask hotels.com to negotiate it, so we checked out hoping for the best but have just found out our request has been denied by the hotel manager. We are furious!! We would not have stayed at this hotel if we were aware so please beware booking here as it is an ongoing issue! We were NOT informed of this, prior to checking in or at check in - it came as a very rude shock when we were all woken up by it!

A truly exceptional hotel. Service is friendly, smooth and courteous; from the moment you arrive you are in the hotel staffs orbit. Very polite and caring front of house. My family enjoyed our stay very much and will not hesitate to book again.

LA in general was just not for us we are glad that we got to experience it but will not be back. The hotel itself was nice and clean, all the staff was friendly and welcoming but if you are not used to a high end hotel it is very overwhelming. They swarm you to get your luggage in and out of the car and opening and closing your doors there’s so many you don’t know who to tip or if they all are supposed to be tipped.. I’ll also add the beds and pillows were so uncomfortable, they don’t use a fitted sheet so you just pull up the sheet you’re supposed to be laying on and no matter how many pillows you have your head sinks to the bed. I would say it definitely was not worth what we paid plus all the extra charges and taxes they slap you with just is crazy. The area around the hotel was probably the nicest that we saw in the area but was still just dirty and not idea for a family vacation in my opinion. The restaurants and shops around the area are all walkable and very nice plus there is plenty to choose from.

Unfortunately we booked this hotel and were never informed that there was a planned strike by the hotel workers. Not only were we woken up at 6:00am on a vacation day by screaming and drum banging, but when we went to the lobby to leave the hotel we had to be escorted out by hotel security. Our kids were frightened and we were not able to have an enjoyable stay. We ate at the hotel restaurant but couldn't hear each other speaking because of the loud screaming and drums. We were not given any discounted rates or compensation for the inconvenience and complete lack of comfort at a luxury hotel. I called both Expedia and the hotel but both refused to offer a credit or discount.

This is not the Viceroy of the past (which was hip and design forward). This seemed more like a family oriented hotel, much more neutral with no real scene…. Upon arrival, the lobby music was so loud (with cheesy music) and the staff did not offer much help with luggage. The rooms were redone and the bathrooms are nice, the new design is fine… quiet room, nice view of ocean from 5th floor. No bar or lobby scene….not much in people watching. I’m sure great for families visiting but not my scene.
