We loved this hotel. Stayed with three kids. The only problem is the high parking costs.

The room was very clean and the staff was lovely however the location is terrible. The bus station is directly across the street so you hear the sounds all day long. You also have to pay for parking at the hotel, over $50 a day, which was not specified. The walk down to the pier was littered with garbage and unfortunately there were a number of people that came up to us aggressively asking for money which made me uncomfortable with little kids. I paid more to stay here because of the location and I definitely regret it.

I was not given the room I booked and was not happy. There were obnoxious protesters outside the doors banging drums and shouting all day which was very unpleasant. I booked a suite with a balcony for $330.00 for my son’s birthday surprise, and got a small room with 2 double beds, and a bathroom. No suite, no balcony with a window facing a dirty alley. The beds were not comfortable at all. The mini fridge did not work and was hot inside and the television did not work. Also, the floor was dirty and there were hairballs. I talked to the receptionist and she said there’s nothing she can do and she had limited staff so I’d have to wait to speak with the GM the next day. She said she didn’t blame me for being mad but she didn’t have any help to get another room ready. She also told me that if any protesters entered and came to my room, that I should call the police! Seriously?!!! I had my 2 children, one who is autistic, my best friend and my dog with me. I felt very unsafe after hearing that. I mean, this was the most disgusting and disappointing hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I broke down in tears because they would not switch us rooms or refund me. I paid a lot of money for this trip and am very upset. I deserve a refund and I will never stay at a Hampton Inn and Suites ever again. This place ruined my son’s birthday that was supposed to be a fabulous day. What a joke

This hotel is one of only a handful of area hotels that has failed to reach a settlement with its union. I learned this the hard way at the crack of dawn when I awoke to the sounds of pandemonium outside the hotel. I learned a second lesion once my kids and I boarded the elevator. The protestors weren’t just outside of the hotel: they were freely given access to the. Real fast area with bullhorns, drums and other noisemakers. My hearing wasn’t the same after just a few minutes exposure to the noise levels. The pool area: forget it! The protests are so loud that you can’t hear yourself think. You can easily Google more to learn about this. Management ignored three separate attempts that I made fo contact them. They could care less. Honestly, I leaned a valuable lesson about crossing picket lines. Never this hotel again. Thank you in advance mr. Manager for whatever platitudes you offer on this remark. You ignored me while I was at your hotel. That’s what potential guests need to know. Caring on Expedia isn’t the same as caring while i am still a customer.

We stayed here one night for a little family trip. We loved the location as it is close to the third street promenade and a lot of restaurants. Girlfriend and kid loved the pool and the free morning breakfast. We decided to stay an extra night but stayed across the street at another hotel. We enjoyed or stay at the Hampton more! Did get accidentally charged for two vehicles for the overnight parking fee of $55 but called and received a refund. Would definitely come back next time I'm back in Santa Monica!

The room was lovely but the staff were rude and unhelpful. Beware allergy sufferers, pets can be in all rooms which I didn’t know. I booked twin beds for my kids but when we arrived there was a double sofa bed, they said ‘do you want the room or not’.
Room service only on request, didn’t answer the phones when we rang.
They ‘ran out of milk’ at breakfast with no apology or explanation - not impressed

Had we known there was going to be very loud protests going on outside the hotel (from about 7:00 am—6:00 pm), we would not have booked our stay. We ended up checking out two days early. We are grateful to the hotel for refunding our money for that. Outside of that, the hotel was clean, staff was very friendly, the breakfast was fresh and had a good variety to choose from. The location is great—we walked to the beach/pier, shopping, and dining. Overall, if it wasn’t for the protests, it would have been perfect for my family.
