DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh Airport

While transferring my luggage to our room and making the room comfortable for the family, I received a parking ticket. This borders on entrapment and a money making scheme. The hotel may believe that it can wash it’s hands of this major and costly inconvenience but it is, from a consumer’s perspective, tightly knit with this poorly executed scam. Additionally, I received the notification until after I returned to the USA. I didn’t have an opportunity to challenge the ticket while in Scotland. Another clever process to avoid a challenge from a caught off guard consumer.

One night stay booked for early flight. Booked hotel because of location and available pool for our daughter. Check-in service was good but rest of staff looked miserable in hotel and spa. Not very friendly. Went for a family swim but we all nearly froze to death in 22oC pool. Facilities a bit dated. Restaurant was overpriced (£10 a glass of wine) and again staff need to work on customer service. Lots of choices missing from the menu. Even felt like they had enough of guests at check out. When asking about shuttle bus we got a vague "out there" which felt like more of a "off you pop". Might be a good hotel if staff seemed a bit more friendly and happy!

At check in, tbe cookies were a nice touch but water should be available and expecially it should be provided in the room as mandatory. The toilet was a bit old fashioned as the kids stuggled to flush it. On a whole the rooms and carpets in the hotel should be updated in accordance with the hilton brand. Also at breakfast there are no pork sausages...only vegan ones. Nice sauna and steam room, along with a pool. A bit too chilly for the kids though

Shower was broken. We turned it on and it made the most awful really loud noise. Tried all ways and it would not warm up. So nobody was able to have a shower, we also couldn't move rooms as our small children were already in bed asleep. We decided to ring for room service, but the phone was disconnected. Connected it back up to find THAT didn't work either. So I had to go all the way downstairs to order room service which defeats the object! Used pool in the morning but the hot tub was anything but. In fact, the jet streams were cold water so it was absolutely freezing and the pool was no better. My kids didn't last long then we had to get out because their lips were blue. So we paid a premium for a hotel with better services and facilities and were unable to use them. Very disappointing.

Was disappointed with our stay. Expected more from a Double Tree. We stayed for 2 nights. On our first night it was very loud with drunk people running, shouting and screaming outside our room through out the night.. not great when travelling with children. We could also hear them through the walls when they were in their room. The room was very small to have 2 beds in it (4 people) the beds were so close you could hardly walk between them. Limited space for luggage for 4 people.. think the room would be better suited for 2 people also question if the beds were queen sized (what we booked) they felt more like double beds. The curtains were dirty and the wall around the mirror had dirt on it. one of the towels even had holes in it. The service at the restaurant was good staff was very kind and attentive however way over priced!! We probably won’t stay here again next visit.

We stayed as a family of 5 the night before our flight. Room, breakfast, pool, gym...etc was great. This is our 2nd visit to this hotel

We are a family of 5 and I was happy to find they had a room big enough for us all to stay together. The price was steep, but prices were high near the airport at all hotels. We slept comfortably. We ate dinner at the restaurant...food was just ok, but maybe we just paid for the convenience of it. Front desk personnel were nice and helpful.

We organised a large family meal with the events team and most if the family stayed at the hotel. The meal was excellent. Every member of the family thought it was delicious. The rooms were clean and very comfortable.

Really enjoyed our family stay

Very nice stay starting at reception. Very nice touch with the hot cookies. Had a room away from the lifts to reduce noise but still noisy especially with children.
