Gorgeous property on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We had a young family and found it perfect to relax after a day of travel around the city. Nice Scottish breakfast buffet as well but for us the beautiful landscape and building architecture were the highlight. We found the service to be decent with couple moments of great service.

Great property, lovely building, staff wonderful.
However, the classic twin wasn’t as expected. Photos show a gap between the beds, but they were butted up to each other. Slightly awkward if you aren’t comfortable sleeping right next to a friend, or if you both need to get out of bed on the same side! Breakfast was lovely, but they didn’t offer tea, you had to ask, it took a while to catch someone’s attention and they didn’t have Earl grey. They did tell you where the coffee was, otherwise nice. Pool was lovely, I did think there was a spa at the side, but it was just seats, and at 3:30 till 6 it was kids swimming lessons. Only in one third, but other mums just splashed everyone in the other half so ruined it really.

Beautiful hotel and friendly receptionist and manager was lovely, rooms were beautiful, beds comfortable but pillows were very flat and very uncomfortable in one of the rooms. Went for dinner the night of arrival with more family that we were meeting there, staff were lovely but layout of table was not we were all squashed in around a round table, food was OK, well starter was, main course not as nice, we decided the next day to eat somewhere else. Breakfast was poor, the buffet hot breakfast was like rubber, as if it had been lying all morning no matter what time u went as we went at different times both mornings, and we had to go find a waiter to request anything else (like tea, or different type of eggs) as no one came near the table. It was a beautiful and very clean hotel but was quite disappointed with food and lack of staff.

Another wonderful stay at lovely Dalmahoy. Staff are just so welcoming. The only things we found that didn’t make it perfect were 1) no vegan/veg sausages for both mornings at breakfast 2) toast machine is chaos and wish you would bring toast to table like during covid 3) toilet roll not replaced and not enough teabags in room (we kept getting two/had to ask each day for more) 4) pool temp is really too warm. I know kids use pool but even then it is hard to swim. These are just niggles and would def stay again

I would return and recommend this hotel to anyone. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The staff were all very pleasant and professional. The family room was big but I would say the lighten was poor in the main room and I had to keep going to the bathroom to use the light in there as it was much better but not ideal when people are trying to get ready. Room was clean but the noise coming from the radiator did keep us up even though it was turned off.
The pool ect was heated and big, they had a lane marked off for people who wanted to do swimming and the larger area for anyone else/kids playing. Separate changing rooms, towels are provided and the lockers are free to use. Never used the gym but looked big enough.
We ate in the pentland restaurant. Lovely food and wine. We had a cocktail in the cocktail lounge (french martini) it wasn't great to be honest, instead of pineapple juice they used Rubicon stuff, tasted like watered down juice. Wouldn't recommend that cocktail, but again lovely atmosphere and would definitely return!
Plenty of parking spaces as well. We don't golf so never used the range or the course but I did also see they had a tennis court as well.
Next time I would book a suite to see what it's like in the main hotel as we were in the building that's been built on.
An added bonus was getting to see the horses up close when we went to see the church that's on the land as well.

Our bedroom was lovely. We upgraded to a turret room which was amazing. We were there to celebrate our ruby anniversary with our family. The junior suite was large enough for our family to join us there for a few photos. Unfortunately when we had our dinner things went rapidly downhill. Service was very good but the food and timing of each course was terrible. Extremely disappointed as this was our treat for our family.

What a wonderful break my family had at the Dalmahoy hotel. The 2 double beds were comfortable but it did get rather hot in the room. The room size was good. It was good to have the flexibility of two different restaurants to choose from. The grounds were so beautiful and really enjoyed the walks around and it was really quite around the hotel. It was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly.
It does get a bit expensive if going back and forth into Edingburgh, like we did. There is a bus stop opposite the hotel at the end of the walk from the hotel. A family day pass is advised but you can only use the pass on the Loithans bus.
A great 5 days stay thank you.

First time here and we loved it. We came with our 2 kids and they enjoyed the kids area.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating and the hotel is just beautiful.
