Hilton Newcastle Gateshead

I’ve used this hotel for my years when travelling up to Newcastle on business. It’s really gone downhill. The rooms and facilities are tired, there’s no upgrades. Hygiene it’s not one of their priorities either. I’ve had experiences where carpets were sticky, I’ve cut my foot on a piece of glass in the toilet and last week I had no hot water in the shower. Staff can be very patronising too. I’ve sent a formal complain and cc’d their GM Martin Robinson with no reply which aligns to the level of customer experience I’ve received. It’s a shame as it used to be a great establishment. I’ll make sure to advise all friends, colleagues and family not to use this place any longer.

The hotel restaurant offered a bad service. The kitchen didn’t bring our main courses for at least 1 hr after our starters were finished. The waitress explained they had a private function on and that had used up all the French fries and we could only have sweet potatoes with our food. The battered fish had a strong smell of rancid fish. However, the waiting staff were excellent and diligent. We had some drinks in the bar area and that was excellent. The service were excellent. It was a shame we were let down by the Kitchen. The rooms were lovely and comfortable for a family,

Great location with fantastic views of the Tyne Bridge from the lobby and our room. Only 5 min taxi into Eldon Sq. The kids loved swimming before breakfast. Would definitely recommend and book again. Great clean smart hotel

This is an honest review. I wish i stayed at the travelodge. But as i was travelling without children for the first time in 15 years we booked here. The room very dated no usb switches and limited to where you can plug any device in. The room on whole dated, from lightening to decor the air con was light a hot fan. The bathroom althought the shower was good there was a shower curtain, the bath plug kept blocking and was old fashioned. Lighting was poor. The house keepers were excellent and worked extremely hard in the heat. One evening i stayed out with family and my partner came back to the hotel he gain another key past when i returned my card had been blocked and i was locked out. This wasnt great at nearly 2am in the morning and the night staff was rude abs threatening he was the one who blocked my card in the first place. So glad I didnt being my children and wont book here again you expect a certain standard with hilton as I have not had a problem in the past. My advice steer clear.

Spent 5 nights at the Hilton, 2 adults and a children Was extremely disappointed to get a room overlooking a grated wall no more than 2 meters from our window. Fridge did not work so we were given a smaller one that took up our limited floor space. House keeping only ‘fluffed up our duvets did not take out dirty glasses etc. At the end of our stay we were charged an additional £35 for our room due to their incompetence in not putting us in a pet friendly room.

I visited the hotel with my family for a wedding. It was a decent place but I thought it was quite expensive for what it offered...don't think it was good value for money.
