Best Western St. Catharines Hotel & Conference Centre

Booked as part of a family wedding at a beautiful local winery. Very disappointed. Tried to charge me more money than on hotels.com. Great service from Hotels.com to remedy the situation. Room was musty, cleaning questionable, and way too much money for the quality of this place. Roads being resurfaced overnight did not help our family member sleep well and the smell of tarmac was horrible. Hotel had 40 rooms booked with our family wedding and should behave prepared guests or given better rooms

Staff was excellent and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The only issue we encountered was the pool and accompanying perks were closed both days during our stay because of a chemical reaction in the pool which shut it down and left us with limited entertainment in the evening with our children.

This was the worst hotel experience I have had in 20 years, and as you can see from my profile, I stay in hotels frequently without incident. My family booked this hotel several months ago to proactively secure accommodation for my son’s basketball tournament. Although the staff was friendly and accommodating, the condition of the room was poor. There was clearly a previous and current leak from the shower that has caused water damage to the floor and wall. Mould? The majority of the electrical outlets didn’t work, including the one in the lamp base in the nightstand table - a fact I only observed when I discovered my CPAP machine to be intermittently shutting down throughout the night. We were assigned room 104 - very close to the main lobby and clearly (based on the noise) in the middle of a block of rooms of a hockey team and a gathering of people in their late teen/early 20s. When I went to call the lobby to complain, I discovered the room phone was not working. Then, of course, were the expected issues. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. The pool looked like fun, but it was so overcrowded, I was concerned about my kids’ safety. Breakfast was ok, but eggs were so runny, they were inedible. No fruit at all. Lastly, there was the unexpected issue. We found a tooth - yes, a tooth! - on the floor of our room. I absolutely regret booking this room, and I would recommend anyone looking to stay here, to throughly search the area for alternatives prior to booking.

Stayed the night before the Solar Eclipse. Hotel was full and breakfast was very busy. Staff did a great job! We were there between seasons so the "mini golf" course was not running yet. Looks like it would have been fun to entertain the children.

The property was clean and well maintained. My family and I have stayed there many times over the years. The owner has been a present and positive part of the success of this property. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The food in the free breakfast could be improved. Every day it was the same large bin of powdered scrambled eggs, coated greasy potatoes, and pork sausage or ham. A little variety or some consideration for anyone who has restrictions for health reasons (like me -- I'm gluten and dairy free) would be greatly appreciated.

The front office staff were very polite and courteous. The dining staff (for breakfast) were less so but probably understandable as there was a lot of guests asking for more food at 9:45am when breakfast ends at 10:00am. This was not the guests fault either since if you advertise breakfast until 10am people are going to expect enough food at least right up until 10am. It felt like a lack of communication between office and restaurant since the hotel was full of guests who were there for a boy's hockey tournament and some of use were there for a concert and the shortage of prepared food seems to be an oversight. The building itself and our room were decent enough (we were just there for 1 night) though the overall appearance and feel was that the building could use some updating. All-in-all it was sufficient for a family who literally came back from a concert to sleep and leave the next morning.

We had excellent service. There was a mix up with Expedia that caused us to be booked in to the wrong room. The staff were very courteous and took the time to investigate the problem. They did their best to accommodate us with a room that slept the number of people in our family, which was a challenge as there were also 4 tour busses checking in at the same time. They were also very kind to our children as we waited for our new room to be prepared. We can not say enough good things about the evening staff. Even the waitress in the restaurant went above and beyond to make our kids feel welcome. It is nice to have the option of a warm breakfast included with the room too.

Stayed 5 nights with family, very clean, children friendly, overall good experience, would recommend and would definitely come back

This property saved my little family that got catfished at the worst property in Niagra Falls. If I could give everyone a huge Thank You for helping us and making things better it would be this property. This property staff was so friendly and helpful during a terrible situation when we arrived in Canada. Each time they saw me walking the halls, they would ask is everything ok? No, it wasn't ok but life goes on. This property was clean, everything was as it should be for a budget hotel. This property could use an outside facelift, but the staff and their willingness to make you feel welcome was worth ignoring the much-needed work on the outer property. Yes, we will stay here again if we ever return to Canada.

The bed was too soft and sank in the middle. Not ideal for 2 adults. We had to stop a hockey game being played in the hall outside our room Sat. afternoon. One parent was there and aware of it. Noisy screaming kids. The bathroom fan didn't appear to work and we couldn't get the phone to work when we wanted to call the front desk about the noise, so we dealt with it ourselves. Service was excellent at the desk and the dining room for breakfast.
