We have stayed at Stoweflake in April for the past few years. It is becoming a family tradition! We love the accommodations - rooms are quiet, bed are very comfortable, room is spacious for our family of 4. I love the gym and use it daily, and we enjoy racquetball and billiards as a family. Location is easy to access many great dining locations, downtown shopping, and the Recreation path for walks or biking. The resort could use some updates, but it is still a great spot for us. We also enjoy a massage during out stay, but the spa was not in service for a couples massage this year.

We stayed there for 2 nights on a family ski trip (4 adults, 3 kids 10-11 years old) The property is definitely run down but was perfect for what we wanted - 1) a place that wasn’t too precious and where kids can be kids, 2) a space where we could spread out. The rooms were huge ane plenty of common areas to gather in. 3) easy access to the mountain!
Every staff member we encountered was super helpful and kind. The pool and hot tub were perfect for the kids.
Easy walk to a sandwich shop, pizza place, ski shop, etc. There was no need for an onsite restaurant!

There are definitely things to like here, but I'll start with the negatives first (so please read everything). To be blunt, this property's heyday was maybe 15 or so years ago. I'd read that the new-ish owners have the property back on the market again without completing all the promised upgrades. Also, apparently they don't have the staff and / or the demand from customers to keep certain amenities operational - for instance, both the spa and the on-site restaurant (Charlie B's) were closed until further notice. (However, there's a chance this was at least partly due to being there during off-season.) The grounds are nice enough but some of the beds could use weeding, carpeting in the hallways is worn, and the tennis courts (some type of clay?) are past their prime. That being said... positives included a free-of-charge room upgrade without us even asking (maybe because there was a junior lacrosse league staying there and they thought it best to keep us away from the kids). Regardless, this was appreciated, and the room we ended up in was large, well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. The staff was courteous and accommodating. The property is in close proximity to most of what Stowe has to offer. So, a positive experience overall with some caveats.

This is our 2nd year in a row staying at Stoweflake, and we have had an EXCELLENT experience both times! The location is perfect, with great dining options, walking paths, and trails nearby. Girakafe and Piecasso are our favorite! But the amenities of the resort by far make our experience. We used the gym daily, racquetball court is a great family activity, the indoor and outdoor pool, and the pool table. We also had a massage this trip! Staff is so friendly, room are comfortable and clean, and the hotel is nice and quiet. Can't wait to return!

Although this property met our family needs for travel (townhouse with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths) it was pretty run down, and I would not stay here again.
The restaurant on site was awful. Understaffed, very poor quality of food, and the environment was again run down and in disrepair. For example, there was a broken frame on the wall, that was hanging off-kilter with nothing in it. The only positive was the wine was not too bad or too expensive.
Additionally be aware that although the website indicates dog friendly, this is not true for all the townhouses.

The property was in a great location near everything. They had a cute afternoon tea set up daily with games for families to play. Upon check-in, I arrived early and asked if there were any rooms available for an early check-in and the counter agent was rude and put out to be bothered. The credit card machine was not working when I arrived but a new counter agent was polite when checking in, although did not tell me any of the amenities or anything about the property. I was confirmed through booking it was an expedia VIP booking, I was not upgraded in my room and was given a room next to an ice machine and elevator/stairs, super noisy. Decent place for families but really outdated.

We’ve been on the road for over a week, staying in every point of interest town along the way. This hotel was double the cost of anywhere else we’ve stayed, and by far the most disappointing. The room was falling apart, from the ceiling to the furniture. The fireplace kept going in and out and making “popping” sounds. Not an intentional sound. The fan sounded like a jet engine. The Charlie B’s staff were not mean, but definitely not friendly, likewise with check-in staff. The restaurant was disorganized and food mediocre. And to round it off, there was no coffee provided when we left at 10:30 in the morning. Thanks to Sherry who provided a Keurig coffee for me, knowing how important coffee is in the morning. The best part of the stay is my family now knows where not to stay for this year’s winter ski trip in Stowe.

The property seems old and needs renovations, but the staff was friendly, and the location was great. Certainly fine if you are on a budget, or with kids.

My family and I enjoyed our room very much. It was quiet, spacious and comfortable. We used the gym which is larger than any other gym we have seen in other hotels. We also had spa services which were very relaxing. Overall, a great vacation and we would definitely come back.
I would suggest repairing the driveway/parking lot due to the potholes which were difficult to avoid.
