Hampton Inn by Hilton Kilgore

Most horrible experience ever! First night, power outage. So, no air conditioning, no house keeping or clean towels. No hot breakfast meats. Second night, bathroom sewage came up out the basin, including black sludge and flooded all personal items on vanity counter tops, bathroom floor and room carpet. I unknowingly got out of bed onto wet, disgusting carpet. Which means, I could not shower or groom. Custom service was not helpful and seemingly unconcerned. In frustration and disgust, I checked out early and cut my family reunion trip short and drove from Kilgore Texas back to Orange Park Florida. In addition to a complete refund, I'd like compensation for destroyed hygiene and personal items.

It was a great stop to grab a nights sleep and continue on our way to a family member’s graduation.

We came to Kilgore for a family wedding. The property is in a safe area, the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the water temp/shower worked well (trust me, this isn't something I've experienced in the last 3 hotels I've stayed in), comfy bedding and a range of breakfast option. The ice machine didn't work, but we could get ice from the staff. They didn't have syrup out for the waffles (they had sugar free, but I don't eat sugar free. I eat real syrup). The road noise was significant so if you can, opt to to stay on the opposite site.

Overall, this was worth the price we paid. For a hotel room under $100 a night, ya can’t expect perfection. Aside from a slightly rattly air conditioner, it was quiet and comfortable. Everything seemed clean and nice enough. The breakfast wasn’t bad, especially the blueberry waffles which were a nice touch and quite tasty. A little frustrating that there were only two towels when we booked the room for four people. Not a big deal, but noticeable. Our biggest frustration was that the pool was closed which was a big bummer for our kids. Maybe at least an apology upon checking in would’ve helped. Heck, maybe just a smile upon checking in would’ve been nice instead of the slightly irritated vibe the clerk gave us. All in all, we would probably stay here again. Definitely call ahead though and make sure the pool is up and running if that’s important to you!

Great staff at the front door to greet and help me when I needed to change rooms. She even helped get us a crib for our daughter to sleep in. It was a relief to find some comfort and ability to relax after having two days without electricity. Thank you. I will reccomend your hotel to family members coming to visit us this summer in kilgore.
