The front desk any time of day was efficient and polite, easily able to point us to local recommendations or get checkin/out processed. Likewise, staff at the restaurant was brilliant- patient with two shy, indecisive kiddos, and monitored drinks and check for maximum efficiency. We loved all the staff we met.
For the price-per-night, we have concerns that only one elevator was working our whole stay, and one night both were down, thankfully not the day we were checking out and carrying luggage.
Combined with the in-room Keurig type beverage maker not being clean (and running it without a pod produced darkly off-color water full of loose coffee grounds) our suspicions point to higher management not giving staff realistic time per task, or proper repair funding to meet ADA needs, to maintain expectations of the 3-star rating.

Gettysburg Hotel has been and always will be my wife and I favorite places to stay in Gettysburg, as it is where we had gotten married. The staff is friendly and always helpful, the property is well kept, other than needing some new windows and a few other minor improvements, but all and all it’s always wonderful. My kids though were upset that they didn’t have the pool open yet for the season.

My kids loved the puzzles and games in the college room for us to use at night. Perfect walking distance to several shops and restaurants.

Wonderful stay with best of historical charm and modern functionality. Had a queen junior suite. The unit was spacious, clean and comfortable. Good storage and outlet capacity. Bathroom was on the small side, but functional. Only complaint, the desk chair is too low for the desk, which made working difficult. I'm 5'6 and had to sit on a pillow to be able to work comfortably. The location is terrific and staff is very friendly.

Wasn't the charming setting I was expecting
Had to navigate steps with luggage. Room was not accessible for a luggage carrier, needed a bellman, there was none.
Other family did not get the accommodations they booked.

Beautiful building, you can tell a lot has been updated. Room was clean. We were disappointed to see that the room didnt have a refrigerator and our thermostat was broke. Parking isnt the most convenient, I would suggest dropping luggage off at the front door first. Its not a hotel that I would recommend for families (based on no fridge alone), but for couples/friends - yes.
Convenient walking distance to SO much! We didn't move our car once. Friendly staff and Starbucks location near reception.

Spent one night with my wife and 3 kids (6, 4, & 2). Hotel was quiet and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. There is a bar and restaurant on the first floor. Directly behind the hotel, and across the ally, is a parking garage with plenty of spaces and reasonable rates ($12 for 24 hours). Lots of drink and food options within a block or 2 of the hotel. If travelling with kids, the pizza place across the street is ideal. Its actually pizza, bbq ice cream and a bar all under one roof. There's several other places and some stores in the couple blocks surrounding the hotel.
If you walk down Baltimore street toward the battlefield, you will find plenty more. For these reasons, i recommend the Gettysburg Hotel.
My room was spacious enough, with 2 TVs and 2 queen beds. I think the sofa in the sitting room also pulled out into a bed. There were flies in our bathroom and our AC did not work but the front desk sent a tech promptly and when the issue could not be fixed, they moved us into another room- same configuration- on a different floor.
All in all, not a bad stay. When i make my next trip, i will probably stay in one of the several hotels closer to the battlefield just bc it would be much easier to get the kids around. That being said, knowing what i know now, i would return.

Central to everything in downtown area.
We had a junior suite, very comfortable for a couple.
Bathroom looked dated, tub and shower need updating.
Breakfast in restaurant was really good but a bit pricey.
Parking is somewhat of a pain/ in city garage behind hotel at $12/dsy

We loved our stay at the Gettysburg Hotel. We were clean, comfortable, it was quiet and cool, beautiful and right on the square in town. Plenty of food and shopping within a short walk, and parking was a breeze at the Race Horse Alley garage (bought our pass online ahead of time!) Staff were efficient and kind. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
