Everything about the hotel is perfect. The breakfast, the rooms, the area was absolutely perfect. This is the 4th time my family and I have stayed here and we love it each time. The only complaint that we had this time was the gentleman at the front desk during our stay wasn’t very friendly. Otherwise the stay was and always is wonderful!

We were so glad we chose the Irish Cottage Inn & Suites for our kid-free getaway. It was a fun & unique property and we especially enjoyed the attached pub with live music. Would definitely recommend it!

I was there with my adult kids and they loved how Irish it was. Also the restaurant was so convenient and delicious.
There was live music in the bar/dining room that was enjoyable.

This hotel had a dated vibe to it. The entrance has an overhang but the hotel has tables & chairs under it, so cars can't drive under it to shelter while unpacking or packing a car if raining. The lobby is poorly furnished as it was almost impossible to navigate a luggage cart around the furniture. The outside facade is just that, a facade. The "Celtic Craft Store" was nothing more than the hotel's little gift shop. The "hot" breakfast was a joke & definitely NOT kid friendly. The only oatmeal was this strange pre-made, very sticky cinnamon stuff in a crockpot. There was only one type of yogurt, plain white bread, & plain white bagels. There was orange & cranberry juice but no apple. If eating the yogurt or the oatmeal, folks were expected to use a soup spoon. The coffee was terrible. There was no milk, no cereal, no hard boiled eggs, no pastries, no pancakes, waffles, or french toast. Breakfast was limited to just 2 hours, 7:30-9:30. Because the hotel is built into a hill, the pool, hot tub, exercise room & spa were essentially in the basement, which was creepy. The hot tub had a dirty ring around it. The bathroom was tiny but at least it was a normal bathtub & not one of those short walled tubs. There were no electrical outlets or USB connections on one side of the king bed - had we not brought an extension cord, I would not have been able to charge my phone & watch next to me while sleeping. The bed sheets had small ststains. The staff was amazing tho!

Breakfast was disappointing. Plain scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits & gravy, (1) banana, a couple of oranges, & fruit plate. There was a little bit of plain white bread, plain bagels, coffee & orange juice. There was no meat, no danish or muffins, no cereal for kids. No milk & no other juices like apple or cranberry were available. There were no waffles, no pancakes, or french toast offered. There was this strange pre-cooked oatmeal in a crock pot, but it wasn’t labeled so most people probably didn't know what it was. Also, they expected us to eat the yogurt & oatmeal with a big soup spoon? There was just no variety with this breakfast & for this being a "resort & spa " I expected a lot more. I guess overall I was expecting a little more "luxury" for this being a "resort." The bathroom was super tiny. The deck had no tables & no chairs out. There weren't any USB connections on the left side of the bed, in fact, there wasn't even an electrical outlet on the entire wall & left side of the bed. The pool, hot tub, exercise equipment, & "spa" are all in the basement. When walking into the hotel, it's difficult to navigate a luggage cart around the furniture in the lobby, & the lobby is tiny. There's no overhang outside to park under to unload a car if raining. In fact, we weren't even sure where the front of the hotel was initially. Overall, the hotel just has a dated vibe to it. The staff was great though, they were knowledgeable, responsive & easily available.

Outstanding. The decor and ambience were really unique, and we loved having the Irish pub attached to the property — amazing food and entertainment. Room was very clean with a great setup — there was a table with four chairs in the room, which was great for a family of four, and we appreciated having the sink and mirror outside of the bathroom. Microwave was a nice addition.

The room was clean and looked newly redone. There was complementary water bottles for the first night stay. Ice machine located on floor. Library and deck available to guests on main floor. We neevr explored the 1st floor but there was a spa and pool down there. Restaurant attatched provided complimentary breakfast and an easy dining option for night. We felt completely safe at this location. There was ample parking in the parking lot. There was a cute tea time that i didnt get a chance to take advantage of but looked nice. Its a <5 minute drive to down town shopping but there is also a shuttle if youre not driving. It is also only minutes drive away from some awesome natural sight seeing areas like a water fall and effigy mounds. You do need to request daily turn down service if you want it. There were enough towels and stuff in the room that this wasnt necessary. I was a little worried choosing a more hotel type hotel for our babymoon, but this was an excellent stay and allowed us to have some extra spending money for entertainment being a much more reasonable price than some other locations.

I can’t recommend The Irish Cottage Inn & Suites highly enough.
Our family booked 3 rooms for 6 nights. Our rooms were well appointed with a feel reminiscent of lodges in Ireland. All were spacious, the beds were huge (5 pillows!) and the mattresses very, very comfy.
Amenities abounded. There were far more than most 3 star hotels have to offer. Afternoon tea in the library where friendly guests mingled was my personal favorite.
But the jewel in the crown was the staff.
From the moment we arrived were treated like VIPs. Nathaniel checked us in and his sincere smile made us feel not only welcome but that he was genuinely glad to see us. Throughout our stay every staff member we encountered treated us in the same welcoming way.
Well worth mentioning is Brian, the Cottage Inn’s shuttle driver on the trips we made to Galena. That lovely man went above and beyond merely transporting us. He became part of my family and I’ll always carry the memory of his kindness.
A 5 star rating for the Irish Cottage Inn & Suites seems inadequate, So I’m going to follow Spinal Tap’s lead and turn it up to an 11.

This was a lovely place to stay for a getaway for my husband and I after spending too much time over COVID with our children. The hotel was lovely, simple, clean, comfortable and the staff were very kind and accommodating. The location was great - close to main street and other day trips (Mississippi Palisades State Park, Dubuque, Iowa).
My ONLY complaint is the extra $10 I payed for the Valley View Room - we were on the first floor, and the valley view we paid extra for was the parking lot and then some trees. That was disappointing. I suppose the other side of the hotel the view is the high way, so perhaps ours was better, but I would not have paid extra if I knew it wasn't really a view.
