This is AN EXCELLENT concept and very good hotel. Im not some kid who likes small rooms but this set up works. The living area near the lobby along with the food and beverage offerings works well.

What a fun, hi-tech hotel. I would never stay here with my children but for a solo adult trip it was perfect. Breakfast was delicious altho the check-in process for it needs to be stream-lined a bit. I would think your staff agrees- It must be awkward for them to approach someone who already has food on their plates with, “Did you check in???” My room stayed SO dark- it was wonderful to be able to sleep in.

We stayed at Citizen M, despite it being more expensive than comparable hotels, because we stayed at a Citizen M in London & my son loved it. The SF version is similar with quirky, fun decor, games & a 'family room' in the lobby, a bar, etc. but where we noticed a big difference was w/ service. You have to self check-in on a computer & it's a process. I did this & in the end it said there was an error so I tried to get staff to help issue a key but they dragged their heels when I was tired & anxious to get to my room. Eventually we did get a key & went to our room which I was prepared for, given that it's the same in each location. It's like a cruise ship room with the entire bed being tucked into the walls & you cannot walk around it--whoever is sharing the bed w/ you is going to have to climb over you to get in/out. Then, it's an extremely small room with a circular toilet/shower combo. It has fun color/mood lights but be warned that if offers NO sound buffer so be sure to stay with someone you like as they'll hear you peeing, showering & more! Service fell short again when we came back from dinner & our key didn't work. We had to go back to check-in, they said we hadn't paid (we were locked out of our room) but we had, I showed proof. In the midst of this a guy walked up & wanted a room & staff person started helping him instead of finishing helping us which is NOT ok. Location is great in Union Square, breakfast was so-so & quite expensive.
Stay was just ok for $$$.

The rooms are stylish and small and the hotel is decorated with tons of Miller Knoll furniture and interesting pieces of art. Rooms are for folks who do not intend to hang out in them. We really liked the pad-controlled shades, TV, and lights. Lobby is great for working. Security was always at the door, so safety was never an issue. John's across the street was a blast for steaks. Cocktails and late night food after a day out was a plus and the sweet, inclusive staff, especially OSCAR AND MARVIN are awesome. We saw not one child which we loved (LOL) BYO conditioner only shampoo/body wash in this place.

Perfect for my husband and I. Spent one night in the city for a Dodgers game. Location was perfect, parking right next to the hotel, walked to everything with no problems. Loved the blackout shades, the lighting, the shower, the ipad, the check in and out. This hotel worked perfect for the two of us. Would not work if our kiddos had wanted to come, but for the two of us this hotel was just right and very clean. The staff was also great.
