Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel

Nice place to stay would recomend to friend’s and family. Will stay there again if in the neighberhood!

The staff were friendly and helpful in accommodating my family. Overall, the room was clean. The bathroom is very big which is a nice bonus when you have small children. The breakfast was also nice. They offer typical continental breakfast items. There seems to be enough parking for the hotel, but with nearby restaurants, it appears they sometimes use the reserved hotel parking spaces. There is a McDonalds and In N Out right outside the hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and breakfast was great for the kids too.

Terrible stay. I meant to book the Best Western just down the street from this one where our family had a wonderful stay several years ago. This is an old run down hotel that needs work. Staff was friendly but not very helpful. Our room didn't get cleaned the entire 3 day stay (i.e. fresh towels, more TP,...we grabbed some off the housekeeping cart in the hall for ourselves). No handsoap in the room when we arrived. The room and hotel had a slight cigarette smoke smell to it. They must have a problem with it because they had a lot of non smoking signage. The elevator was super sketchy and the inspection paper showed that it expired two years ago. The elevator was bumpy at best and tried to start moving while the door was still open on one ride. The beds are terrible and need replacement. The mini fridge had some mold growing in the back of it. The microwave didn't work. Didn't try out the small TV. The pool was locked and we had to get someone to open it. I'll add some pictures later if I can. The add photos feature isn't working on the hotels.com app right now.

My only complaint is I booked a room online with a king bed. When I arrived at property to check in I was asked how many occupants ( I’m pretty sure I put in online) I told them 2 adults and a toddler 2year old. I was than charged a $30 extra person charge for a 2 year old. I’m never stayed at a hotel and been charged for a child especially if sleeping in the same bed. I was given 2 beds but did not need two beds because my daughter sleeps with us. So the extra bed that I was probably charged for was not even used because she slept with us on a tiny double size bed

I had to pay extra for my 3 kids to stay in the room. Will never go there again. You should take them off your list!!!

The overall stay was okay. The bed was too hard for my liking. Unfortunately I will not be staying at this particular location ever again. Upon checking in the older representative was extremely rude. In all fairness he was with another customer that was having a hard time finding his credit card. I asked if there was a restroom I could use while I waited. He snapped me me and said, “I’m with a customer I’ll be with you in a minute!!!!” Followed by a cold glare. The other customer was still digging through his belongings to find his card…so a few moments later I asked “may I use the restroom?” Again he snapped, “I’m with a customer I’ll be with you in a minute!!!!” Followed by a second cold glare (I was shocked). By that time a gentleman (Jay) came from the back and handed me a key from the desk and directed me to the restroom. It wasn’t so much what the older representative said but clearly how he said it. I don’t think my child and I deserved that kind of response. All the other staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. Unfortunately his encounter left us not wanting to return to this hotel.
