Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

We had an amazing overnight stay with family. We ate our meals at Schooners, visited the seal lions and Monterey Aquarium

This is a very nice hotel. HOWEVER, for the price it is trash. Would absolutely not recommend it. Great location, decent rooms, ok facilities, SUPER overpriced. Staff is reminiscent of a best western. They charge you $48 for valet parking but say it’s $43 when I asked why they told me a different number they explained how taxes work to me. You cannot use a cart to move luggage unless you pay for it. If you ask for alternatives to park they will roughly tell you valet park or you will get towed. Walls are extremely thin and you will hear loud children at all hours. Balconies are comically small, it’s more of an extended windowsill. Would normally say it’s a nice hotel but at the price it’s a joke. Save $600 and stay at any number of the competitors it’ll be as nice. Be aware if you want to use the spa you have to walk through public areas in a robe (they don’t like you to use the lockers those are for ‘spa guests’ not hotel guests) so you get to walk by fancy restaurants and lots of people in your swimwear. The hours of the spa are limited at best and they kinda want you out by 6pm so be careful if you intend to use the facilities during the advertised hours. It is all very charming until you remember it’s $500 a night with $50 parking. If it was $200 a night I’d stay here regularly.

I loved the location and all its amenities. Such a nice and friendly atmosphere. Definitely family friendly.

I keep coming to this hotel because he’s so beautiful and elegant. Also very kid friendly. I love the way that the staff greeted my kids they give little gifts at the moment of checking in and our bathroom so beautiful

We are locals and it was our Anniversary. We've had a couple of very stressful months and needed to get away but not too far as a family member has been ill. Monterey Plaza was everything we wanted private luxurious, welcoming professional, warm hearted and evolved.

Excellent location. Great accommodations. Great ambiance. Friendly, pleasant, helpful staff. I will definitely come back with my family.

Everyone’s so nice and helpful from the front desk to even bell hop! I just love this place and my kids are having a great time. The spa and steam room is awesome and the gym is great to burn some calories.

Amazing stay, wouldn’t think twice about booking another room. The location is very ideal and in walking distance to the aquarium, shopping and dining. Very friendly, thoughtful staff, many amenities. My family loved it.

Loved the small private beach, in room dining, and the spa. They were surprisingly kid friendly, and had a scavenger hunt for marine life that won a treasure from a pirates chest.
