My family and I stayed there for one night. The location is great. The staff were friendly. It is a quite old facility but very charming.

First time staying here and unfortunately was a frustrating experience. Start with the good - maids were friendly and effective in keeping the place clean. We checked in on a Wednesday and out on Saturday. Breakfast nook quaint and OK with basic options (bagels/toast, hard-boiled eggs, muffins/pastries, apples/oranges, yogurt, cheerios/Raisin Bran, coffee but nothing other than cold water for kids). Now for the frustrating - on day 1 we informed the front desk the tv was not working. They had no ideas but said they would get back to us. I proceeded to check in each morning/evening before/after our day’s activities. I was told repeatedly they would talk to a manager. Long story short, they NEVER fixed or even FOLLOWED UP with an update. There is no maintenance person onsite and the nice girls that work the front desk really had no idea how to help drive to a solution. I didn’t expect them to be able to provide tech support personally, but at least contact someone who could. Just very poor customer service. Two other things to note. 1- After checking in and seeing our room had no tub (just a walk-in shower) I asked if there was another room we could switch to that would be better for our small child. Answer: “None of our rooms have tubs.” 2 - The heater in our room was one of the older baseboard radiant heaters (not a problem by itself). Unfortunately it was located right behind a bed headboard (literally touching it) which felt unsafe and tough to sleep .

The hotel was nice with a good location. And cute rooms but they were poorly cleaned with past guests things still in the room. Then the alarm clock went off at 3 am and woke up the whole family even though we didn't touch it.

Overall this place was pretty nice. I liked that it’s historical. It’s cute and well maintained. The rooms are large and clean. The courtyard area is beautiful. The rooms are actually beach themed which was odd, I expected them to feel more like they match the time period of the home. You aren’t actually in the house but next to it. The parking is horrific if you have a large vehicle. We have a truck and it was very difficult to get in and out, especially as the spaces filled up. We barely fit in a space. The breakfast is actually just snacks and the road is very noisy nearby which was only a problem because we have kids that kept waking up from motorcycles going by all night.

Merritt House was a lovely, charming place to stay with my family of four. The room was gorgeously decorated with a door to an outdoor space. the bathroom was spacious with new tiles and hardware. There was a small refrigerator in the room and bathrobes. The breakfast that was included with our stay was like a bed and breakfast feel. The area is walkable to an entire downtown area with shops and restaurants, close to Fisherman's Wharf.

We enjoyed our visit. The staff was friendly and made us feel like family. The historic building and grounds are beautiful. Nothing fancy about this place, reminded me of Grandma's house. I always loved going to Grandma's. I would stay there again.
