Nice hotel across The Grove. Mid century inspired decor and pretty pool for the kids to enjoy. Parking was a little pricey at $45/day. but overall decent experience.

Property is nicely renovated. Our room was outside the main building in a motel like block however it had been beautifully painted on the outside and inside had new wood flooring and nicely finished bathrooms. Linens were also very good quality. Robes but no slippers. Coffee was downstairs outside back in the hotel building. Perfectly fine for a busy weekend shopping outing. Pool seemed a little small but functional if you have kids and need them to let off steam. Front desk were polite but not friendly. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Those that want to stay here to enjoy quiet should not stay in the south tower that is where the suites are. The new owners changed everything I loved about the 'The farmers daughter'. The previous owners had something very special that was lost in the transition to the new owners
(Example: They have rolling barn doors on their bathroom and you can hear the rooms surrounding your room when they open and close their bathroom rolling door the rooms do not have coffee machines the hotel coffee was Subpar ice machine was MIA). The location is great if you're just looking for a bed to sleep in. I would not recommend this hotel for kids and families. The bathroom is very small. Housekeeping does not come daily, which created a shortage of towels. Really wine was great and room change was easy. Not exciting amenities.

bait and switch - reserved junior suit, but placed in the old building that looks like a motel.

The air conditioning was not consistent. Only one small trash can. The woman at the front desk wasn't familiar with the location of a nearby grocery store. The parking was extremely expensive which I could have done myself. Consider parking on the street. The pool area echos, which is not an issue until young children come and yell while they are having fun. Elevator is very slow.

What a gem of a boutique hotel, I told all my friends and family to stay there next time they were in LA for fun or business.
From the minute we arrived the service and attention to our experience were exquisite. Juliette who greeted us at the front desk was polite, professional helpful and made us feel welcome. Johnny at the valet service was courteous and so helpful.
The beauty with Short Stories is that everything you need is right there at the hotel.
The restaurant was very good, the bar fully stocked, and their pool seemed so inviting and peaceful, but if you need to leave the premises it is central to everything you can imagine wanting to do in West Hollywood and its adjoining neighborhoods.
We will definitely go back.

Room floor was very dirty, front desk said they would tell housekeeping, nothing was done. My child slipped and fell twice in the slippery shower, again nothing was done. In the suite there was one remote for two tv’s, remote didn’t work so we couldn’t even use the tv’s. Valet wasn’t available 24/7 as advertised so we had to self park yet had to pay for valet. Staff was rude at check in. At check out was told that valet fee would be waived due to all of the troubles we had, they said they couldn’t print my invoice to confirm this due to technical issues. When they emailed me of course it wasn’t waived. Tried to follow up, was told a manager would call in 30 mins, it’s been 2 days and no one has followed up. Extremely disappointing.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating, have no complaints. Clean and stylish rooms, kids were also happy with the heated pool. Instead of touring, we ended up hanging at the hotel for the most part of our trip because of these reasons. I also like to mention there are nice cafes and restaurants and grocery stores walking distance.
Thank you Short Stories Staff!!

The hotel wasn't bad, and it was a last minute stay while I was already on the go, so I didn't do too much investigating before booking (my mistake!), but it seemed overpriced for what it was. I guess it's because of the area, but I still felt duped when I got there. Seemed like a scene-y crowd eating in the oddly designed courtyard on the same ground floor and sort of open space as 'the lobby' - a counter offering what seemed like Lays bbq chips and water in paper cups, and whose system was down when I arrived so I couldn't check in. I expected a nicer pool which ended up just being off to the corner in that same courtyard, completely in the shadows, no sun, and taken over by a kid splashing around in floaties. I couldn't open the curtain in my dark room because it (and all the rooms in that building) gave to the hallway and everyone could potentially see in, which added to the 'remodeled motel' vibes the room already gave - however they forgot to do something about the old and ugly AC unit in there. Bedding and sheets were very meh, I expected better. All not terrible things, but again, definitely did not seem worth the price. Only redeeming factor was complimentary yoga class in the morning, but still not enough to make me ever want to come back. Could be better with some TLC I think - good luck!
