This was a unique setup with a hotel above stores in a commercial area. As an example there is a bank next store and a restaurant below. There are a lot of stairs to climb just to get to the lobby. The parking is a couple of blocks away, but it is free. There is an amazing bakery, Porto’s, on the same block (try the potato balls). Location was central to all the areas I wanted to go…Glendale, Montrose, Calabasas, North Hollywood so it was easy to travel from place to place. The room was small but clean. The view was of the roof, so not great, but the AC worked. The rain shower was ok, but just spun around so I had to figure out strategically where to stop it so it would turn off. The price was one of the cheaper around and was good value for the price. Travelling by myself as a young adult it was fine. If I was older the stairs might put me off…did I mention there is a LOT of stairs. Might not be great for young kids. I would stay here again if I was traveling without my family.

The receptionists are very accomodating especially the Filipino guy and lady (we forgot to get their names). The guy gives us option for parking and gave us information about the neighboring dining areas. We love the surroundings very convenient and family friendly. We would recommend the place and we will be back again.

This hotel was terrible. The carpeted stairs and lobby were filthy. They claimed on their website in the rooms were recently renovated and they absolutely were not. The help were unhelpful. The maids didn’t bother to clean the room until I complained, and then the guy at the front desk excused it by saying I checked in the day after I did. The Internet was either slow or did not work the entire time I was there and the front desk would do nothing about it. The snacks in room for purchase included inedible fruit cocktail of some sort and a can of Vienna sausages. I kid you not. Vienna sausages. I thought they were outlawed in the 1960s. The couple in the room next to me complained at the front desk that their television didn’t work, and the guy said “there is nothing I can do about it, but I am very disappointed.” Oh my God, what a mistake it was staying at this place.

Stayed with the family here to go to Universal Studios, about 12 minutes away, it was a good value. The beds are super comfortable, showers well sized with good pressure and hot water (great when you're coming back from a full day at the park), parking is a bit of a thing... if you want to part in front of the hotel its street level with meters that you need to keep in mind, outside of the 12am to 8am window, they do have an option of parking about a block away as well. Lots of dining options close by and some are open quite late. Overall a good experience.

PROS: location is safe &walkable to great restaurants and fun shops. CONS: please note the rooms with 2 beds are only double beds NOT queen. They are equivalent to a full bed, barely bigger than a twin. We're a family of 4 including 2 teen boys. We are all tall- 5'11-6'2. We figured we wouldn't be in the room much. The 1st night we had an AWFUL night sleep. The beds were so tiny & beyond bouncy to the point that u feel ALL movement the other person makes. The hotel was not near full , so the next day, I kindly asked the front desk if they may be able to better accommodate us vs refund our 2nd night to stay elsewhere. The best they offered was to make us pay for a 2nd add'l room at a slightly discounted rate. But this meant we'd pay more to stay in a place that was already disappointing. I tried to negotiate in many ways to no avail. After several requests to speak w the manager& no response or call, I became annoyed. Then was told "he may call but may not". When the manager/owner finally called, I saw why the hotel staff hides him from customers. He had no people skills whatsoever- immediately started the conversation by telling me that even if I'm a 5'11 female, I'm not tall & should be able to sleep in the bed. Lol!Why have that argument? I proposed a few options to which he raised his voice screaming, told me the conversation was over, &hung up on me. The owner Jahn de kludikine has a lot to learn about customer service &respect. I will never stay there again.

Booked junior sweet mainly to use bathtub but the drain stop was broken so you couldn’t even use it which was a bummer.

The staff was super friendly and helpful! I came alone with three little boys so I needed lots of help with bags. I also liked the price. The parking for the hotel was about a five minute walk away from the hotel, which was really inconvenient with kids and bags. And then immediately upon entering the hotel there are two flights of stairs and no elevator. So not the best building for a hotel, consider that when booking!

I got the junior suite for a really good price around 170. As many have said, you have to go up some stairs before you even get to the front desk. The vibe is very old vintage. The junior suite itself is beautiful, spacious feeling despite the actual size. Lovely bed and style, a lot of amenities. The bathtub is surprisingly large and so nice. I would definitely come again

Not a family friendly hotel. Rooms are tiny and there is no elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up. Great for a weekend for two but not family. It is an old hotel which created a oder we believe comes from the carpet. They need to be updated. We did feel safe in the area tho.
