The area was not pleasant, but was near a lot of dining/shopping options. The property was....unique. All entry points have to be accessed via room key which provided a sense of security. My family enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. The breakfast was mediocre at best. The rooms were large, but not as clean as I'd expect. The couch in our room needed to be replaced (covered in stains and has an old musty smell). The staff were friendly-ish.

Sadly, the hotel is just in a horrible location. It looks like it was once a beautiful place, and could be again, but it is now part of an enornous scuzzy parking lot with two large warehouse-size discount food(?) stores that look abandoned (or soon to be), a gas station, and an old carwash that looks like it has been perhaps converted into a drive-through dry cleaners. In fairness, we arrived very late at night. The hotel is on a busy a boulevard that is loud and dirty with lots of traffic. There were scattered booze bottles in the parking lot bushes and at a side gate. We emptied EVERYTHING out of our rental car because I was sure the car would be broken into just for a 1/2 eaten box of cinnamon rolls and a couple of bottles of water. The front office gal was SUPER NICE and very friendly and accommodating, and she upgraded our room for free. In the daylight, the lobby is extraordinarily beautiful, and the hotel looks like it was once a romantic and charming place to stay. The other patrons were all friendly and normal people--mostly seniors in their 60's-70's, but a few young families, too. The hotel was very affordable, and had a nice continental breakfast for free, and the staff was friendly and bent over backwards to help you.

The staff was nice, but I feel like the website mislead us. Apparently there is a alcoholic anonymous or narcotics anonymous group living on site. When we asked the staff about it, we were told they were just using the conference room which they lied because we saw the people going into rooms throughout our stay. If I would have known this upfront, I would’ve booked somewhere else. No judgement and good for them trying to get their lives right, but I was on vacation visiting my son who’s in the military and I would’ve stayed somewhere else. We didn’t have any problems with those folks, but it would have been nice to or told about when we questions them on it. I definitely would not recommend a family with children staying there.
