We have recently returned from a 2 night stay at The Grand and overall had a great experience. Highly recommended for family trips. 1. Parking: We went for the valet parking which is convenient as you can arrive at the hotel, unload and then the valet takes your car to the nearby NCP for you. You can park at your NCP yourself for a cheaper price, however we were informed by the hotel that they have their own floor in the NCP carpark so it's really down to personal preference. 2. Check-in: The process was pleasant and efficient. The member of staff was very polite and interacted with our children. They also provided packs to the children containing various items including 'Grand Dollars' which could be redeemed for a dessert, drink and other items available on a menu in the room. 3. Rooms: We had two twin rooms which were modern, clean and spacious. Very happy with the facilities. If possible, ask for a room that doesn't face the road, it can get pretty noisy. 4. Breakfast: You have various options: a la carte, hot buffet and continental. Everything was of a good standard but make sure you don't leave things too late as you can be waiting around for pastries etc to be replenished. 5. Location: Excellent location. Easy to walk to location attractions, restaurants, tea rooms etc. For example, the Minster and Jorvik centre are all within walking distance. 6. Why not 5 stars: We had an unfortunate incident on the last morning where there was a mixup and breakfast hadn't been

Didn’t like the fact we couldn’t get into the pool, no slots available for children. This is the only reason I booked this hotel and to not be able to get in was very disappointing.

We have stayed at the beautiful Grand hotel many times over the years & it always hits the spot. You are always Warmley received like a much loved family member. We have now tried the original bedrooms & the new modern ones. Both are of exceptional quality however we like the original ones best. Can't wait until our next visit to the exceptional Grand Hotel York.

This is a nice hotel within walking distance of most tourist attractions. The room was nice but little details for the price of the hotel were missing: the klenex box was never refilled, the nespresso machine is a nice touch, but the pod capsules were cheap, only two small bottles of water were provided for the whole stay. The spa is restricted to one hour per visit, and they allow children which is a put off as they are allowed to splash water on purpose all over and go into the jacuzzi. For the price of the night here, it misses the mark.

I travel frenquently for business and vacations around the world. Spent two weeks traveling in the UK with the family and decided to make a quick stop in York while traveling from London to Edinburgh. The Grand was definitely the best hotel in the whole trip - what a pleasant surprise!! Initially, the reason why I booked here was simply because it seemed a short walk from the train station- but it was an excellent experience. *Got two of the remodeled rooms: elegant, spacious, modern with AC, sufficient plugs for the multiple gadgets and had all the conveniences one would require for a comfortable stay. The breakfast buffett is also very good and in an elegant set up. *The check in was a good experience, quite friendly and personalized. The check out was quick. *The hotel seems to be classic place, with an elegant bar and a (well marketed) spa but didnt get to try either of them. York is a small city so walking from the hotel to the main sites was convenient. If I would have to go back to one hotel during my trip to the UK, it would be definitely the Grand.

Beautiful hotel, accommodating of last minute need for baby travel cot. Had free upgrade executive room to a suite for wife’s birthday. The spa and faculties all round are fantastic. We come every year and it’s always amazing

The Grand is the best hotel in York by a fair distance and I’ve most of them whilst visiting family (it has to be done sometimes). The location is excellent, right in the city centre by the station but not too loud at night. The Executive Double room is spacious, well decorated and immaculately clean. It comes with an espresso machine and access to the in room dining menu via the TV and is perfect for a couple of nights stay. What really makes the hotel stand out though are it’s staff. From the concierge team who greet you and manage parking, through to the reception team and room service they couldn’t be friendlier or more welcoming!

The room was very nice. Comfortable beds and great shower and bathroom. The grouting on the bathroom floor was black though and it used to be white. The pool facilities had to be booked but was still extremely busy full of children, even in the jacuzzi. The cocktails were extremely overpriced, fifteen pounds upwards and if at least we would have got some olives or crisps we wouldn’t have minded the price. When I asked if we could have some the waiter looked at us strangely. Not even sure if he understood us. The staff at reception and especially the doormen were extremely helpful and kind
