The hotel was spotless, the car valet guy was a pleasure to know and was always on hand to help. The rooms were spotless, but way too hot. No air con and the windows only opened slightly. I would not like to be there during the summer! We booked a family room and still had people outside of our room shouting at 330am! Not a family kind of hotel at all, too many groups of adults swearing and shouting. We couldn’t even drown out any noise in the corridor as our bathroom fan didn’t work, which wasn’t great for any bathroom activities! Perfect location for the centre and shops/bars a small walking distance. The staff at the hotel were super helpful and polite at all times, just wouldn’t stay there as a family again.

We arrived for my husbands 40th Birthday (so special trip for us) the bathroom had silver fish running round the floor it was absolutely disgusting. The bath had brown stains - we were so disappointed.
I went to reception to complain and although they were amenable and moved us to another (very basic- though not crawling with silver fish) room, having 2 young kids and bags this was not the most convenient when we’ve arrived after a full day of walking around York. I would have expected some more customer service- maybe a drink for the inconvenience etc but there was nothing like that.
With the brand and reputation of Hilton I would have expected more. This was a special birthday present trip we were incredibly disappointed.

The hotel was lovely and very clean and staff friendly, polite and attentive. Room was smaller than we expected with being a family of 4 and therefore warm at night even with the fan on and room a bit tired looking with peeling wallpaper etc. Overall though we had a great stay with a fantastic breakfast in a lovely hotel.

The staff allowed a lot of underage children into the bar area at night. 50 filled the area and were causing disturbance. False fire alarm at 12:30am and no staff to ask any questions too. An awful stay with awful service.

We stayed in one of the suites.
We checked in the old-fashioned way as my Hotels.com booking number wasn't recognized by the Hilton app. This was utterly painless, the staff were friendly and charmed us into having breakfast, and they were even able to fit our car into the underground car park. The lobby is nicely decorated.
Access to the corridor to the suite was quite a walk and there were a few steps down so if you are of limited mobility it's a good idea to check with the hotel before arrival.
The room was a very good size for a city centre hotel, it had a sofa that had already been folded out for a bed for our toddler by the hotel. It was a decent two-seater and faced the good-sized telly that was over the fridge and desk unit. There was also a round 4-seat dining table with a lovely Orchid in the centre, it did interfere with conversation over dinner though! The bedroom was massive with a window overlooking the neighbouring restaurant courtyard and St. Marys Church (that has a Picasso display on at the moment.) The bedroom area also has a telly and a wardrobe. The rooms have a door between them.
The en-suite has a large shower with a rain shower head.
The only downsides with the room itself are the lounge area only has one window too far to one side so even on a bright day the lounge isn't overly bright. Also if its cold there is no heating in the en-suite aside from an electric towel rail, and given the size of the room it was chilly in the morning.

Me and my partner found check in was simple and easy as well as the valet parking. We also found the room comfortable and clean, however there was building work going on which we were told about, which was an issue.
We went for a night away and organised a baby sitter, so we could get a much needed break for one night. We chose this hotel for it's location and later check out, only to be woken up at 8.20 in the morning to drilling and hammering above us. It got continuously louder as the morning went on to the point where we could even hear each other talking or the TV in the room. So we ended up checking out early. When we did inform the front desk and check out we met with a receptionist that didn't believe us, which felt like a very strange response, as we only wanted to tell them not to put anyone else down the same corridor we were on as it was so loud. I have also tried to find an email to contact Hilton York directly but I haven't managed to find one.

Enjoyed a lovely couple of days, as the hotel is ideally placed for exploring York on foot. Parking was easy using the valet parking option, if a little expensive at £19 per night. However we were able to leave the car parked until 3pm on our day of departure which was a great option. Our family room was comfortable and we found all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a lovely start to the day. Will certainly stay here again.

Room was good size, well laid out and really useful to have suite with separate door for family. However, could hear TV in room next door very loudly and some noise from outside so better sound proofing needed.
Excellent breakfast.
