Excellent staff. Clean room. Below average breakfast. Overall was perfectly good for a one night stay for me and my two teenage children.

Charming hotel, although our family room was in an annexe with no view so felt a bit out of it (it was a huge room though). Breakfast was good quality but not much choice of continental foods and it was laid out on a table so not quite a 4 star feel (coffee from machine etc) Very convenient for the sites and a decent car park charging at £11 a day (it’s quite big but I suspect if the hotel was full you’d struggle to park nearby).

Great location to explore downtown Durham and easy access to the marketplace and Durham Cathedral. If your walking stamina is limited, you can cut the walk up to the cathedral by walking to the market square and catching the Durham Cathedral Bus up from there. Tickets cost £1.00 (50p for children 13 years and under) and are valid all day.

We had a very comfortable couple of nights in the hotel. The staff were very polite and helpful. The bed was also very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.
