Village Hotel Manchester Bury

Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel, booked a double double family room, back in February, got to the hotel and they didn't have one available they said. After a hour of waiting about they said we could have 2 double rooms. The women apologised and explained she only worked vover once a month, had been to ask the manager several times for help, why couldnt the manager come out to sort the issue? At 11.00pm another guest walked into our room when we were in bed saying they have been given this room, they went away and I'm assuming they got a different room. Our only concern then was our daughter and her friend (both 15) were in the other room and if someone had walked into their room they would have been terrified. In the morning I went to see someone regarding last night and they had deleted my booking off the system and stopped our door keys from working, had to prove I had booked the hotel and breakfasts for 2 nights as it was showing on the system we were a no show and there was no record. Finally got the room we booked so we were all together. Wouldn't stay here again also looks a lot nicer in the pictures than it actually is.

We have stayed here 4/5 times before this stay. Disappointed due to the double double room We booked and paid for was not available. Given a family room instead which had a sofa bed. Thought ok: when we saw the sofa bed it was very very small. Not big enough for 2 . Told would get a part refund but nothing yet.

Great stay with kids

The Hotel is part of the DeVere group and as such had a good reputation. We got a good deal through Expedia and some good recommendations. The Hotel has undergone a massive refurbishment and the rooms apart from some on the first floor had been improved. Ours had NOT and we got the impression that because we had paid in advance were not fit to be placed in a refurbished accommodation. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the Hotel has party nights, most of those partying were placed in non refurbished rooms and the noise was intolerable, we complained on Friday and that night returned to a fight being held within the main entrance areas, that spread into reception with no stafff present, this was extremely off putting and could have been more so to parents with children. Again I complained on the Saturday to a helpful but what proved to be inefectual member of the management. We had an early flight to catch on Sunday and despite asking for a quiet room returned to the Hotel to find a wedding party in full swing with a party being held in the room next to ours. I then demanded a change of room as we had to be up at 4.00 in the morning on Sunday. We were reluctantly given another room away from the noise on the second floor, I asked to see the Manager but he was to busy, one of the reception staff said, 'what could I expect when we had booked a stay during their party season'. I would not advise anyone to stay here unless they like to party and fight.
