Clontarf Castle Hotel was our final stay during our over two weeks of Ireland and it met our goals: relaxation before return home in a hotel that was away from the Duble city hustle and bustle while being rather secluded, safe, and quiet. The highlight of our stay was the cleaning ladies, they were among the absolute nicest people we met in all of Dublin and were so sweet to our toddler son. Breakfast was nothing to write home about and actually disappointing given how nice the hotel was, at best 3/5 stars. Hotel was clean and really tried for the castle experience, albeit too much at times (little gaudy to be honest). Let downs were worn carpet, furniture in need of replacing, so so AC, lack of streaming services or casting on the TV, limited food options (of which several were just "ok" and not fitting to the location or price... Overall 3/5 at best), and lack of things to do or see on the properly. Clontarf Castle Hotel is quite secluded outside of the main city area which is what we went for, but a lack of grounds to walk about or enjoy outdoors was a huge letdown. For the price you're paying you'd expect something grand our out of the world beautiful like Lough Eske Castle (literally we paid the same on one day even less (<$100 USD difference) at Lough Eske!). IF I had a do over I would have gone to stay at Tha Green Hotel again to be closer to shopping, parks, and save hundreds of dollars feeling like I got more for my money. Alas it was a good stay, but not worth it.

Had a medical emergency and the staff treated us as if we were family. Prompt, attentive and genuine concern. Once better, we could enjoy the beautiful castle, the delicious meals served in the multiple restaurants ( wonderful full Irish Breakfast served every morning with wait staff available) and fully appointed luxurious room. We truly had a once in a lifetime experience in Ireland and feel the staff at the Clontarf were excellent ambassordors for the country.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Clontarf castle. The check in staff were fantastic, very friendly and great with our baby. The room we were given was lovely, clean and with comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent too. We will definitely stay here again.

All of the workers at Clontarf castle were so helpful and polite. I really appreciate that they upgraded us when we arrived, and so we got to stay in a family room which gave us a bit of extra space. Also, the food at all of the restaurants was very good, and the room service was very prompt. I will say, some places, like the Violet Lounge, could use some additional signage to make it clear whether or not you need to wait to be seated or not. Other than that, I loved my stay here.

We stayed here for my nephew’s wedding blessing, we stayed for 4 nights / 5 days. Hotel was beautiful, staff were friendly, helpful and nothing asked was too much. Bus stop outside of hotel bus number 130 will take you into Dublin City centre, cost €2.60 per person they don’t do daily returns. Can pick up bus either outside of Lidl or around corner for return back to castle - takes about 15 - 20 mins depending on traffic. Would recommend visiting Trinity University, Temple Bar area, Beach down from Clontarf lovely walk. Would recommend ‘The Yatch’, for a drink & food. Is about 10 - 15 min walk from castle. Room was amazing, we had room 321 executive double, daily housekeeping, water restocked, towels & bed changed. Food was really good breakfast was included in our stay/room great selection of continental or full cooked (buffet style). We ate in the Fahrenheit restaurant our 2nd night - 3 course a la carte food was amazing and would highly recommend. We were heading down to join our family for the celebration of my nephews wedding and on way down there was a choir on the 2nd floor and they were amazing. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a stay in Dublin.

The hotel has a fun look on the outside. It would be good for kids to get the feeling of staying in a castle without actually staying in a castle. The price seems high for the location. It is well outside the city center. Breakfast is also not included- another expense.

This hotel was beautiful! We walked in to check in, our last night in Ireland- so we splurged- there was a stunning wedding happening. We got to our room, and decided to venture to the Knights Bar for dinner. After waiting to be seated for a few moments a man told us to sit at a table behind the bar and he’d bring us menus. We sat back there, with all the other tables full, for 15 minutes. No one had menus or drinks so we got up and left. We went upstairs to the Fahrenheit restaurant. We were told that they couldn’t accommodate us for over 3 hours because they have a party of 50 coming in momentarily. Fine, we went back to our room and ordered room service as there is nothing walkable. At 10pm children from the wedding began running up and down the halls. After the 3rd time I called the front desk. The 5th time I yelled at the children myself. At this point I’m in disbelief that we spent almost $400USD on this room and we can’t even enjoy the property. Morning, we are ready for our flight so we got to eat at the Fahrenheit restaurant, wait in line for 20 minutes to get up to the podium and have the manager tell us he has to start a waiting list and it’ll be 15 minutes minimum. My husband was very vocal at this point and they opened the bar downstairs for us to go eat in. So we sat there, with no cutlery- while a boy mopped the floor and just smacked the mop from the back of the booth to the bar. Bam. Bam. Bam. We got up, checked out and left. Never again

Check in was excellent and that was about it, first room had a family door that we could hear everything coming from next door, even at a talking volume, no level of privacy, once we were changed room was much better but as a young couple felt like we were partly looked down on, did not receive the same treatment as other guests in the bar/restaurant, snarled looks and just left alone and were paid no attention to when wanting to order another drink. Very nice for older/mature couples as by the looks of it you'll get treated like a gem but wouldn't recommend if sub 30, looked like two completely different experiences

A beautiful building in a lovely location, I know the area very well and I remember this hotel as an institution of excellence as a kid. Its still a beautiful place but its been run on a spreadsheet with uninterested staff who are poorly trained. Such a shame but everyone is aiming for average now which really means the service will keep declining.
