Hotel Libertel Gare de l'Est Francais

We are a family of 3 (with a 9-year-old) who stayed in this 3-star hotel during our 6 days trip to Paris at the beginning of July. The family room was good, I would say it is a good size considering it's in Paris. It has 1 double bed and 1 folded twin bed. Our room was 401, it's near the elevator, so it's a bit noisy. Our room has no view, our window was facing the other room's windows, so we have to keep our curtain closed. We encounter a short power outage but the staff fixed it within half an hour. The is only 1 bottle of soap in the shower, the label said it's for hair and body, that's unusual in a hotel. They didn't change our bed sheets for our stay, so by the 4th day, it kind of stinks. The hotel is right across the Gare du L'est station, so it's very convenient for commuting. The area was ok with many dining options. Overall is good at a reasonable price.

Due to the recent riots in Paris and suburban area we requested a refund of our planned stay at this hotel. I contacted Expedia one day in advance to let them know we do not feel safe staying in Paris and this hotel. Common areas were set on fire. Paris' mayor family was also attacked. The situation in Paris did not appear safe for us to visit. We requested a refund in consideration of the situation. The hotel response was that there would be a NO refund and everything around the hotel was safe. How can one force people to visit any area where the situation is not safe?

Stayed here 3 days. Very close & convenient to the Metro station, Gare du L'Est, restaurants, convenience store (right next to the hotel), etc. We got the family room being 2 adults with a child. Very compact but functional room. Well planned. Would stay there again.

We ordered a room with doublebed and a bed in sofa for 3 people. When we arrived we found a double duvet on the doublebed. We asked for two single duvet because as grandchild and grandmother in same bed of course wanted seperate duvets. The answer we got was that the hotel did not have an extra duvet. So with no service to help with our request we had to use a dressinggovn as duvet. Next day we asked again, this time we got an extra planket to use as duvet so we did for the next two nights…
