When I arrived the hotel with my kids at about 1:30pm, I went to the reception to do the check in. The staff told me that the room was not ready yet because the hotel check in time is 2pm. I thought that was fair enough. And just completed the check in document first. After that we sat at the lobby area to wait. Then at about 2:05pm, I went back to the reception and asked if the room ready yet. This time was a different staff, she told me that the room was still not ready and asked me if I wanted drink voucher. I asked her that is the hotel check in time at 2pm? and she answered Yes but room was not ready and that's why she asked me if I wanted drink voucher. All I needed was a room but not drinks then I walked away and back to my kids to wait. At about 2:20pm, I back to the reception again, I went to see the first staff that I had done the document with and asked her if the room ready or not. She checked with housekeeping staff and finally there was a room ready, and I asked her: didn't you told me before that the hotel check in time is 2pm? Then she said because the hotel was fully booked the night before. But all I thought was the hotel was fully booked the night before was not my problem at all. I paid over $400 for one night from 2pm to 11am. I think it is not fair to anyone if the room is not ready by the check in time at 2pm. Every minute counted. $$$$$$$

Very nice property and easy access to restaurants around. Hotel had only one pool with too much chlorine smell so couldn’t go there. No spa and anything special for kids. If coming alone or with partner is good for a night or two as nice restaurants around and easy access to ICC Sydney if attending an event.

Novotel Darling Square has an excellent pool and gym. They also have a kid’s room, with giant screens and e games, fully stocked with free kids’ snacks. The down side is that there’s no air vent in the on-suite bathroom, and there’s a notice that says steam from a shower can trigger the smoke alarms, and guests are liable for the $1600 charge.

The kids club, free meal for kids and the pool were fantastic. A great place to stay if you have kids.

The Novotel Darling Square was a perfect hotel for our stay in Sydney. A good size pool for our family to enjoy and the breakfast buffet was a hit with the automatic pancake machine! The location is great, close to so many wonderful restaurants and a short walk to public transport options. It was quiet inside the hotel which was wonderful for a city hotel, we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again when next in Sydney.

Excellent location and friendly staff. Stayed with 2 young kids for school holidays. The bathroom sink was a bit slow draining which didn’t get fixed but overall it was a comfortable stay.
