Crowne Plaza Milwaukee South, an IHG Hotel

I don’t think I could recommend this hotel. It wasn’t just one aspect but multiple. The area the hotel is in is not great. There is an abandoned hotel with broken windows right next door. I definitely wouldn’t feel comfortable walking a block to the gas station or McDonalds. All of the staff seemed to have no interest in doing their jobs or interacting with guests. I wasn’t expecting 4 star service but I genuinely didn’t feel welcome while I was there. At face value, almost all of the hotel interior looks like it was redone very recently with nice finishes. But if you look closely at anything, it’s obvious they only went halfway with the refresh. In the restaurant, the wallpaper/fixtures/tables were all very new. But upholstery on every chair is stained and bleach faded, ceiling tiles with huge water stains, paint seems new but already has grime built up on high touch surfaces. Our room was billed as a 1 bedroom suite sleeping 4. But the pullout was twin sized that my elementary aged kids wouldn’t even be able to share. No linens/pillows/blanket for the pullout supplied either. The carpet everywhere in the room was damp and slightly sticky. When I went to call the front desk, the phone was dead, no dial tone. I had to use my cell to call. I definitely would not book this hotel again.

We came to enjoy the pool and hot tub with our grandchildren. but when we found the hot tub closed and the pool cold, it was not very enjoyable. The desk should tell people when something like that. Very disappointed!!

Good location; clean but not spic n span (my standards are high); Starbucks a plus but need more fresh fruit options; comfortable bed and pillows; hot water ( a tad too hot); toilet had vortex-like suction (keep small children away); heat fan was very loud - a game changer and would consider looking elsewhere because of that.

My suggestion when you have groups of kids events is to put them all together or save a floor for guests who are not a part of a large group event. We chose to stay over near the airport for a 5:30 am departure which meant rising at 3:30 am. Having screaming kids running through the halls did not allow us to get the much needed sleep we expected & certainly did not make staying close to the airport at your hotel worth the cost.

Hotel was nice. Only problem was we requested connected rooms during reservation, before arrival and upon arrival and was not given the requested room. We then found out the next morning that those types of rooms were open/available on our floor but we were not given that was disappointing. Other than that inconvenience for our family; everything else was fine.

Rooms were not cleaned upon arrival. Had to move to a different floor because I was advised that no housekeeper was available. People were drinking in the pool area and very irate while other children were present and playing. Service for the food had a hr wait. Breakfast is not included. You have to pay per item on the menu. You are only allowed two complimentary vouchers for free breakfast in the amount of $12 value and anything over that is paid out of pocket. Ran the shower water and ants were in the drain. The overall staff was nice but definitely choose a different stay. Hotel isn’t up to par at all.

Hotel was newly remodeled and clean. The beds were not real comfortable for me as they were pretty firm. The bathroom sink was on rather high pedestal which made it very hard for smaller children to reach sink/faucet. It was nice having a separate digital room temperature gauge making it easy to change room temperature. Pool chlorine was extremely high as our eyes were burning while just sitting in pool area. Location was close to major highways and minutes away from downtown Milwaukee.

Very nice hotel. Only a few problems, beds were not very soft and the pool was cold and the temperature of the pool area was cold. It's November, pool should be warm...kids were not happy.
