I enjoyed my stay in Old TownSheraton. It is close to shops and restaurants. The room was recently renovated and was set up nicely with the bedroom separated from the sitting area. Very clean.
The only thing I wish this hotel offered was coffee and tea in the lobby. Although there was a set up for coffee in the room I find it is nice to sit in a common space with family and friends for a cup of coffee or tea in the morning.
Otherwise, this hotel perfectly suited our needs.

I do not like having a big bottle of fancy water displayed, I almost opened it,, when later I bought water downstairs I said oh there is a bottle in the room,, the woman said that costs *$8. I said it had an 8 on it which I thought was a room # or something,, she said no its the price, I said there was no dollar sign next to it,, she said there was,, I went up,,the bottle costs 6$ and is written in that hard to read silver writing on a silver background,, your hotel had with a black marker put an 8 over the 6, they assume ii would see the original silver $ sign underneath the large black 8... you could see it if you turned the bottle around and tilted it in the light,, we never opened it,, but what a scam to not just put a black $ sign next to the 8 so it was actually clear what the price was,, when I find a water in a room I assume its part of the service,,, can you imagine if a kid saw it,,or a person with bad eyesight,,they would open the bottle... I am just lucky I did not... small but stupid little problem I know ,, but deceptive for sure,, I never thought it was a price on the water,in a room I had paid for,, so glad I did not open it. a marker dollar sign next to the marker 8 in the same color would have been so simple..

My husband and I love staying at the Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria when we visit our daughter and her husband and baby. There is so much within walking distance, including an amazing Trader Joe's and Harris Teeter supermarket. We love the running path along the Potomac, the great restaurants and shops, and proximity to the DC sites.
The only complaint we have is the couches in the suites don't have bolsters, so are uncomfortable to sit on while watching TV or reading. We bring our own, or ask for extra pillows from housekeeping.

the hotel was very nice and we were able to walk to most activities in Old Town. We were not pleased that hotels.com messed up the reservation and because the hotel was full capacity, we were not able to get the room I reserved for our family.

Front desk lady was rude. Apparently, she was also rude to my family who checked in the day before me. The room with the balcony was not worth the extra money. The balcony only had enough room to stand in. I guess for people who need to step outside to smoke. thats pretty much it.
