The Inn at Shady Lawn

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment, which was so comfortable and perfect for families! Location is right in town and about 10 min from Grandfather Mountain.

We had our daughter's Wedding taking place in Newland. We chose to stay here for the 2 bdrm and Family style accommodations.When we arrived they had said they hadn't received payment when it was completely paid for when made reservation which I provided proof.Then when we went to the room it was a one room small and not what We had paid for. We went back to office and let them know this was not acceptable! They then said we do have that suite availble! Ok we said and accepted it.Then on Saturday after we had come back from rehearsal dinner the GM Frank knocked on our door and said we couldn't stay in that room for the rest of our stay due to another family coming in for a week's stay!! It was the most rudest experience we've ever had! I would like to have our monies returned! This place is horrible and Do NoT recommend anyone to stay here EVer!!

This is a cute motel in Newland, a charming town near Grandfather's Mountain. The staff was friendly, and the room was very clean, and had been updated. The style reminded my husband and me of motels we had stayed in when we were children. The only issue was that it was cooled by a window air conditioner with wide blinds, so that to have air in the room, the blinds had to remain open. On a better note, they were generous with coffee, shampoo, etc. and provided cold water bottles, which was very nice during these hot days.
