The Modernist Hotel

We had a great stay. Aaron was so incredibly helpful during the first half of our stay at the Modernist. The hotel is in a great location. The hotel is close to several coffee shops and restaurants. We had the king suite room which comes with a beautiful and huge balcony. Our favorite part was ordering dinner each night and sitting out on our private patio. Thank you for a great stay. Will recommend it to family when they come visit in the future!

I was shocked. This hotel really is a hidden gem. The staff are incredibly nice, I love the art room and my room was so cozy, clean, and the decor was so wonderful I took pictures so I can copy it for my bedroom at home. 😂 Every time I come home to visit family I will definitely be staying here.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. I love that this a local hotel! At first at arrival you may be turned off by the location and even the front entrance of the hotel. But once going in that all goes away. It’s a small hotel with studios rooms suitable for families. I loved how there wasn’t many rooms it made it feel as if you had a lot more privacy. Rooms are clean and spacious and hotel staff are very professional and nice. Close to subway for transportation or you can always Uber.

This hotel has the feel of a boutique in the midst of a very humble, family-owned, and modest business amongst the "concrete jungle" of NY. The unique blend of comfort, warmth, and cleanliness adds to an incomparable hospitable experience that brings us back repeatedly on our necessary and regular visits to NYC. The beautiful skyline, the ambient lounge space to retreat to, and the modern and functional room makes for a great escape. The decorum is minimalistic and clean looking modern, and clearly with well thought out motifs. The tall ceilings, electric operated blinds, pseudo olive tree placed in an accent of a floor vase, are just examples of the expansile and eclectic feel of a room here. We always find our room refreshed and neatly sanitized on arriving back from our daily itinerary. If you need a cozy, affordable place with a warm touch within reach of the city in a neighboring outer borough, this is the one to choose! We are so grateful to have this establishment in this apartment style conversion to hotel in this vicinity filled with diverse restaurants and neighborhood feel. Thanks Modernist! We will be back again!

Small intimate family run boutique hotel. We will stay there many more times I’m sure

We loved our stay! Super cute room, spacious, comfy bed, very clean! Front desk was very welcoming. It is a family owned and run business, so we LOVE to support our locals. It was perfect for a mini getaway as new parents away from our baby.

This property and its managers were fantastic. Staff: 1. They're available via text or call. Super convenient! 2. We arrived an hour or so early not expecting our room to be ready, but it was! 3. They only had Lipton tea in the suite. I asked if they might have others. Instead of saying no, they were kind enough to get the tea I was hoping for. Did not expect that, but so grateful. 4. Full of helpful local recommendations! 5. Always friendly and kind. Property: 1. 5-7 minute walk from the train. 2. Mom and Pop eateries close by. 3. Very quiet and clean. 4. I wish the cool lounge room was a breakfast spot. 5. Felt very safe. 6. The spacious room was great for a family of 4. 7. The view of Manhattan from our room was amazing. All-in-all, I would definitely stay again! The only weird thing is it has a slight Air bnb feel where you have to sign disclosures before checking in, and they put tiny signs throughout the room stating how much it costs to replace damaged or missing items in the room.

Me and my children loved our stay at the Modernist. Polite owners. The room was the perfect size with great city views. We decided Modernist is our go to when we visit our family in New York.

I was not happy with the cleaning of the rooms I had to complaint about having my my clean when I return. I not happy at all I had to sleep on dirty sheet. They didnot have towel. I am very pissed because I had my grand child with me.... Please let me know your thought....
