Ruidoso Mountain Inn

I had a training to attend in the area and stayed 2 nights. The hotel looks very nice from the outside. However, the inside was very gloomy, dark paneling, old decor. I did not feel safe because on the first night, I saw a shadow of a person outside the door, heard them knock softly and then insert a card, and the door opened slightly. I did have the hasp across. I jumped up and ran to the door to see a leg of the person running down the staircase. I went downstairs to the front desk to tell them and he said, I "must not have shut the door properly." ......not convinced they cared. The room also looked like the high school ISS kids painted it. I tried to upload photos, it was just not professional.

The hot tub was disgusting. The floors and carpet were very old and the paint on the roof in the bathroom was peeling. Drain was semi backed up along with the TV acting up. Overall you can tell the property is aged and needs some repairs/maintenance. The customer service was subpar and they made you feel like they didn’t care if you were there or not. They charged for a roll away bed for the little ones, $15. The breakfast was not bad. They also charge you 5 dollars extra on top of your reservation if you use Expedia or any other 3rd party for your reservation.

Typical older hotel being owned/managed by a family from India. Overall they do a good job with what they have to work with.

Very quaint and comfortable lodging for our one-night stay in Ruidoso! Staff was friendly, breakfast was delicious and the shower was hot. I saw other reviews mentioning a weird smell in the room so I brought an air freshener, but honestly didn’t notice a smell so it wasn’t necessary. With small kids it was an awesome bonus that the room had a microwave and mini fridge. We also used the pool and hot tub that evening which was a convenient activity. We would easily stay here again!

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and comfy... especially the beds. Hot breakfast was tasty as well as the afternoon cookies in the lobby. Enjoyed the hot tub. Pool was a bit chilly but children didn't seem to mind the coolness of it.

Overall ok for the money. Only problem was a water circulation pump sound that kicked on every minute or so. Sounded like a flue playing a G note ! Leaving fan on all the time drowned it out. The highlight of the stay was the family of Elk grazing outside the entry
