Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites St. Charles, an IHG Hotel

Recently had a family wedding and spent two nights at the property. Large room that was clean with great blackout curtains and cold a/c. My son recently had shoulder surgery and needed to ice it to keep swellling down. The late front desk clerk gave me several clear trash bags to make an ice pack that did not leak! Great ice machines!

Staff was very friendly and accommodating . Clean even during renovations and family friendly and relatively quiet.

Very disappointed that it is not communicated before booking of construction and pool availability. This hotel was chosen so the children I had with me would be able to play at the pool. I would not have chosen this property had I know the pool was under construction.

I was disappointed that the hotel was under construction and it did not state that on the website. The pool was closed and that was a disatifier for the kids. The price was to high for what was offered for our stay. The staff was extremely friendly which helped me with this rating. If you in town for business I recommend this hotel, but with kids maybe finding a hotel closer to downtown would be recommended.

I loved the quiet location, friendly staff, and cleanliness of the rooms. My family and I enjoyed our stay.

The place was quiet, clean, spacious. I didn’t eat the breakfast but looked to be the standard breakfast offered at most hotels. There was a small indoor pool that kids seemed to be enjoying. There was plenty of parking. About a 10 minute drive to Lindenwood University.

Room was okay upon entering, wasn’t the nicest but we were just staying for a night for a taekwondo competion so thought it was fine. They didn’t have extra bedding or pillows in the room for the pullout couch so had to go down and get those. The room had 6 lamps but somehow was still very dark. Bathtub was cracked around the drain and rusty and the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest. Anyways, we got all checked in and went to bed and luckily I wasn’t able to sleep right away because I started getting really itchy. Got up and turned the light on and there were three bed bugs crawling around under me and I had 6 bites on my neck and shoulder. Then turned all the lights on and there was a cockroach crawling by the door! Went right down to the front desk at 12:30 am and demanded a refund. Had to pack up my whole family at 1am and scramble to find another hotel at double the price. Luckily they gave us the refund having to call the manager but I will be calling in the morning to talk with the manager to make sure they really know all the problems and hopefully it gets taken care of before someone else has to deal with this!

It was very hot outside when I stayed. The entire hotel was hot, even in my room when the air conditioner was on. My room was dirty. The mirrors had kids hand prints on them as well as the headboard to the bed. I found trash lying around and a dirty washcloth still in the shower. My toilet was also dirty. I also had two other friend staying, as we were in town for a wedding. One friend had to change rooms because the air conditioner did not work and the other friend had a dirty room. There was a hole in her wall and dirty underwear found in the hide-away bed. I will not be going back.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. There were probably 10 lights in the pool area and maybe 5 of them worked. They were all super dated and gave the entire pool area a very dingy and gross feel. There were also no pool towels at all in the pool area. The shower in our room was awful. It’s one of those tub/ shower combos and when you pull up on the tub spout stopper, only half the water went up to the shower head. When I called the front desk to tell them about the issue, she kept cutting me off and not actually listening to me. She finally said she would have maintenance look at it. If they did come look at it (idk we were gone all day) they didn’t fix it because it was just as bad the next night. The bathroom sink also seemed to be missing the little circular cover that goes over the faucet spout because the water just sprayed all over the sink, not in a normal stream. The lock on the room door is the worst design ever. It’s a lever handle with no deadbolt, so when you pull down on the lever, the door automatically unlocks from the inside so you can open the door. While no one can get in from the outside, my toddler had no problem pulling down the handle and leaving the room. We had to put a chair in front of the door every time we were in the room to keep him from escaping. Housekeeping never came to our room, and we were there for three nights.
