This property is worth the price of admission. First, the rooms are actually quite large. We had a table for two between the second bed and the large picture window of the lake. Based on the decor, these rooms have not been updated since the early 90s and they show some battle scars. It isn't a big deal, but you might notice corner damage on the walls or an unpainted fix on the ceiling. The bathrooms have UV heat lamps.
My kids loved the pool and my wife and I really enjoyed the spacious hot tub. The hot tub is large enough for probably 20 people to sit in and is close enough that I was able to watch the little ones splashing in the pool.
The one major painpoint that I had was the breakfast. They call it grab and go, but in reality customers never get to see the food and must give a list of what they want to the person at the desk who will run to the back and retrieve the items. All of the items are prepackaged and none of it is fresh.
With the savings from the lower cost of this hotel you can afford to go out for breakfast every day.

We booked months ago- when we got there the pool and hot tub were closed for construction. The lady at the front desk was less then friendly when I asked about it as I had upset children. It was in our confirmation way at the bottom not with all of the rules and amenities when I went and looked- very easily missed as others who were checking in also missed it due to the upper part stating the pool and not tub were open with the times ect. We will rerun but it was very disappointing.

This hotel was a great place for my family of 4! The rooms were cozy and we really appreciated the breakfast to go option in the mornings. So thankful for the hot tub and pool to relax in after a nice, long day of hiking and walking around.

We had a great stay in Grand Marais. We had a family room at Aspen Lodge for our family of 5. It was clean and very comfortable with a great view of Lake Superior. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Due to Covid restrictions, they had a “grab and go” breakfast which had lots of options and was very good.

We stayed here for 4 days and it was nice. Communication was good, pool, hot tub, free breakfast, fire pit and horse shoe area, guest laundry, walking distance to everywhere, clean, friendly, the owners even borrowed pool toys for the kids to play with. Nice Lake view from our room, a little dated but so worth the stay! Had one issue with the tv and the manager came to fix it immediately. Great customer service!

Overall, hotel was nice but some what outdated. Continental breakfast was decent with good options and variety. Hotel pool water was cloudy, but kids still seemed to like it
