We use to stay here when I was another hotel company pre Covid, everytime we came to Michigan to visit family.
So making our first visit since Covid we decided to stay at our usual hotel. First couldn’t find it then heard it changed names.
But what a big change. The difference in service and cleanliness doesn’t compare to what it use to be. Now I don’t feel safe to walk in or out of the hotel.
When you use to come in after hours you can always see or be greeted by someone in the office. Now silence. We stayed on the first floor usually in the same room for some reason. But the hotel and room feel damp and musty.
Sad to say this would be the last time I stay at that hotel.

This place reeks of marijuana from end to end and floor to floor. The desk chair in our room was broken, the body wash dispenser was empty, and there was a weird smear on the full-length mirror. We were eager to try this place again after the renovations because of its proximity to family but cannot recommend it.

First room was not properly cleaned, dog hair all over, it got all over my cloths and belongings. New room seemed better wiped down. Room was a good size. Floors, counters, and cabinets were modern, but appliances seemed not as new. Tv was old and small. Wifi was fast. Lighting was yellowish, dim, and depressing. Bed pillows were too small and thin, Blanket was dingy, thin, and over used. Mattress felt old, not comfortable. Bed sheets and towels looked over-used. Barely any tissue paper, paper towel, and toilet paper. Only one trash can. No bar of hand soap for the bathroom or kitchen. No complimentaries whatsoever. Air conditioning was very loud and room felt stuffy. I was on 2nd floor, and could hear kids running above. Elevator and hallways felt stuffy and smelled of a mixture of various foods cooking. Overall, there wasn't a fresh clean feeling about this property.
I could make many suggestions, but in order to keep this short, I will mention just two. First, cleaned rooms should smell fresh, clean, and sanitized. Second, separate your hotel rooms into those that can have a pet and those that can't. You absolutely must have some rooms where pets have never been, and are not ever allowed.
Will I ever stay at a Sonesta Hotel again? No. Main reason is because I want a pet-free room, which they don't have. Regardless of what I think, however, for the price, this is a descent choice. You can't expect much for the $125 and under rate, especially these days.
