Had an overnight stay with my family before we went to the UP. Location of the hotel is convenient for a trip to Mackinac Island or Mackinac City. However, it’s an outdated property and it seems not a lot of effort goes into keeping the appearance up. Tables and chairs meant for the conference room line the hallways. Rusty grates and faucets in the rooms. Paint peeling off the walls. The complementary breakfast was very poor. The staff were pleasant and helpful but this wouldn’t be my first choice if we stayed in the area again.

Everything was great and I don’t mean to just find something to complain about, but there was enough trash on the beach that I actually picked up some of it myself while the kids swam. I’ve noticed this at other beach hotels too and always wondered why the hotels don’t have someone to frequently walk the beach area with a long grabber and a bag and just pick up the small loose trash.

I'd give this place MAYBE 2 stars. It does NOT deserve its current rating. If you're on a budget, it's OK at best. The pics on the site haven't been updated in years...neither has the decor.
The pool was a big letdown. The whole pool area had a pungent chemical smell, and it wasn't just chlorine. Smelly and dark. I hesitated to let my kid in the pool for the 15min we were down there.
Hundreds of mosquitos and No See Ums got in our room when you open the door. Not the hotel's fault! But they got through the window screen too. We had a swarm in our room.
The double king beds are divided by the bathroom, which is fine if you want to keep the family separated. TV's were so dated you couldn't use a Roku or the like.
Staff was lackadaisical. No turn down service for a two night stay. Wet towels pile up...and they won't bring towels or blankets to your room. You need to wait at the front desk for the staff to curmudgeonly bring you what you need.
If you're just looking for a bed, it's fine. If you want to relax at a nice hotel, look further.

The staff was very helpful and the hotel had good deals with local establishments. The rooms were clean but a little maintenance would be in order.
One thing that we especially liked about the room layout was there was a king bed for the adults and queen bed for the kids. They were on either side of a central bathroom and vanity. Each had their own tv. And yet they were all part of the same room so we didn't feel like the kids were in a separate room.
Nice outlet to the beach on lake Huron with enough beach furniture available.

Can't beat the location, especially for 4th of July Fireworks! Right on the beach, good view of the Big Mac bridge and the ferry docs. Housekeeping was on-call only and not very good (room clean upon arrival, but you had to ask for housekeeping if you wanted it, and they didn't take out our trash or make beds - just swept up sand and picked up dirty towels and left new ones). Rooms very big and can comfortably sleep 5, maybe 6 if two young kids want to share a hideaway bed. They could really use a water spicket to wash sand off your feet upon arrival back to the hotel. Overall, for the price we paid I think it was an excellent value and we had a very nice time there. Mac City is very small and everything is less than a mile away, and is very walkable from this property, but it's also easy to drive and park closer to shopping or dining. Nothing on-site at this hotel to eat.

They have the best lakeside views, and the rooms are perfect for a family of three traveling with a kid that needs their own space. The kitchenette and bathroom divide the suite to give privacy to either bed.

They gave me a room that looked like it had never been cleaned at all. There were already a lot of dead and live bugs, and the bathroom faucet was broken. I had a child and a schedule, so I couldn't just spray bug spray and change the room. However, the fire alarm kept ringing for several hours in the early morning, so we talked to the staff, but they couldn't solve it and we couldn't sleep at all. They offered to change my room at 5 a.m., so I didn't think it meant much since it was already getting dark, but I ended up changing rooms around 6 a.m. and only slept for an hour. I kept asking the staff about compensation, but they told me to talk to the manager. I gave up on my morning schedule and waited, but in the end, the manager never came. I checked out and left believing the manager said he would contact me when I got to work, but a week has passed and there is still no contact. I never want to go again. It was the worst hotel.

Stay was very good. Plenty of space for our family. I wish that they had a continental breakfast because food in this town is expensive.

Clean large room. Perfect for family. My only complaint is the amount of chlorine in the pool and hot tub was too much. You sat in the hot tub and the steam burned your eyes because it was so much.

The property is dated but loved the location. Only a few min bike ride to the ferry, water front with a balcony and bridge view. Also the king suite was perfect with kids. There’s a separate area with a full bed and a pull out couch. It was clean but could use some updates.
