Courtyard by Marriott Hadley Amherst

Terrible experience. We booked this expensive hotel specifically because it has an indoor pool and hot tub. We were in Amherst for a Thanksgiving family gathering. Though we live nearby we thought it would be fun to treat ourselves to a night in a nice hotel. Our two year old loves swimming pools and Mom and Dad like hot tubs. Upon checking in I was informed the hot tub was "broken." Strike one. Then we were given the key card to what turned out to be an occupied room. Fortunately the occupant was not in the room when we entered it. Strike two. The sullen desk clerk had misread the room number. Once we got into the room we changed and headed for the pool. Our key card would not open the door to the pool area. Another trip to the front desk and another sullen employee we tore away from his phone, who managed to open the door. Our little one headed right into the pool and then backed out with a unhappy squeal. The water was brutally cold. Far too cold to enjoy the pool. I am surprised there weren't penguins and ice floes. Strike three. An utter waste of money. And an hour of trying to cheer up a two year old who didn't understand why Daddy couldn't make the pool warm. Marriott doesn't give a damn. My last stay in a Marriott owned property. They are overpriced, glorified Motel 6's. It appears to me from the reviews that this property has declined considerably in the past few years.

Hotel was very nice and clean. The bar food for dinner was awesome - kids and I were too tired to go out and what a surprise. Pool is tiny so we didn’t bother but overall a really nice stay.
