From the checkin with Cassandra (also had previously spoken by phone with Cassandra prior to arrival to make a room location request, she was wonderful then, too) and Alyssa (newbie staff trainee) along with asking advice with front desk Karli the next night(she gave us excellent directions and suggestion about other local places to visit) the 2 Welcome Center staff members (forgot to note names), the lodge restaurant hostess, waitress and cook (such a great experience of service with quality and quantity of the food- lightly corneal coated fish dinner one of best), Bat cave tour guide Jamison (such an excellent job with her fun interaction with the us while delivery on an amazing education of cave history) everyone was superbly dedicated above and beyond to make sure our experience at Carter Caves was memorable not only for the uniqueness of the beautiful wonders of the 7 natural bridges ( also told by Cassandra to take the short trail behind the welcome center to the largest natural circular bridge, if you only visit one, because of its extended size and curvature with walk thru ability it’s more picturesque) and the different cave options to tour, all set in the beautiful Eastern Hills of Kentucky….. the trip became so much more enhanced and delightful with the generosity of the experiences we had with every interaction with the staff whom genuinely feel like they are welcoming you into their home and family for a few days! Wonderful experience especially memorable!

We loved the cabin we stayed in! 2 bedroom, 2 baths, clean with all the pots, pans and dishes we needed in the kitchen. We enjoyed a fie in the fireplace one evening with easy access to firewood and starter at the lodge! The cave tour was fun for adults and 6 yr old child! The tour guide was great with our 6 yr old, who had many questions, answering them all with patience and a great listening ear and sense of humor! The benches at the playgound near the lodge need painting or to be replaced. Better signage where road splits between lodge and cabin roads would be helpful especially when arriving after dark. That is the only criticism I have

I give this place 5 stars for young families, new hikers and old people. Consider it a prep for the Red River Gorge. I give it 3 stars for experienced hikers. I found all the big bold arrows painted along the trails to be WAY over the top. The greatest reward of hiking is the feeling of accomplishment you get by figuring things out and overcoming your self imposed limitations. At Carter Caves, they've decided to dumb it down for everyone. The state park system has been on a starvation diet for a long time. The "Nation's Finest" just isn't.

We rented a cabin to share with our extended family. The property was super clean and welcomed our dog (with an additional $50 cleaning fee) Lots of room so the kids didn't drive us crazy. Parking is great as long as you don't have more than 4 cars. Very quiet and private. It was the perfect solution for spending time with family that we don't get to see too often. The restaurant offers good food at a reasonable price too, the cabins are stocked.. though no food...but full kitchens and a grill, if you would prefer cooking your own meals. There aren't too many restaurants in the area to choose from unless you go to Morehead. But overall we enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful landscaping. Disappointed no pool adjacent to the lodge. Be sure to let Cave ticket salesperson know the AGES of your children. I pointed out the baby in the stroller and was still charged for child fee and they refused the refund.

The rooms were very nice! The park is beautiful and there is so much to do! The cave tours are a great price. Only $10! And the tour guide was so informative and nice. My only complaint would be that there wasn’t a microwave in the rooms. The restaurant closes at 8pm and there aren’t a ton of options for food locally after that. So a microwave would’ve been nice. Not that big of a deal though! All around, it’s a great place to go and take your family and we absolutely loved our weekend away!
