Wow! Who knew we’d be trying to figure out a way to come back to Des Moines? In Iowa for the first time (family wedding; no plan to return), but definitely a great stay—loved the atmosphere, the friendly service, the lobby bar, the room, the shower… great job! We hope to visit again!!

This hotel decided to let homecoming kids come and take pictures at the establishment… this meant when we checked in at 4:36pm there were LITERALLY 100’s of teens, and their families everywhere. We couldn’t use the bar, the outdoor area or the lounge!

We normally get suites when we go on vacation so our kids can have a separate area from us. There was no pictures for the suites so we just took a chance on the junior suite. We were slightly disappointed there is no door separating the bedroom from anything it’s just a HUGE doorway. I will say it was very nicely remodeled and I loved the look of it. They had bocce ball outside and a nice sitting area. The pool area was very big. Altho about 1/4 of the area was full of boxes of some sort. After the pool I asked my son to go ask for some dirty laundry bags to put our wet swimsuits in. And for some pillows for the pull out bed. They told him they had no extra pillows and no laundry bags for guests. Breakfast was horrible. Me and my son went down at 730 and there was almost nothing left to eat. Cold eggs, yogurt, and a pan of stuff no one knew what it was. I overheard other guests saying the previous days were the same way and they don’t restock. My husband and daughter went to breakfast at 830 and said all that was left was eggs. The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in a hotel.

It smelled of sewer gas when we arrived and was like that for 2 days. The people on both sides of us had parties going on and crying kids and it was not a good experience.

Our stay was very nice and we liked the pool side rooms. The hot tub needs some work and at times our toilet would stay running. Overall our room was quiet and our family had a very good time there.

We had stayed previously at Hotel Renovo in 2018 and had a fantastic experience we chose them again.
However our most recent experience was a complete let down. When we arrived, we were told that they were fully booked for the weekend and due to that we would not have room cleaning services as readily available. We had the option to opt out of cleaning services so we did as they told us if we needed anything (or if we changed our mind) we could always reach out to them. Our stay was for two nights so we didn’t think much of it. Then before heading to our room I had to agree to the terms of about 20 different things on a list, basically stating that our children could not leave the room without us, and that they would not be left unsupervised. We were totally fine with that because why would you leave your children alone somewhere when traveling.
We went to our room, and when we arrived, the room appeared to have had a very quick clean done on it. There were spots all over the floor, including the carpet spots on the wall, and spots on the counters. I brought Clorox wipes, so I wiped up as much as I could as to not bother housekeeping. Then, we tried using remotes for our TVs and neither of them worked. We also asked for an additional pillow as we needed one more and the man that brought them to us seemed irritated that we were asking for items.
That night we continued to have more issues such as plumbing and ants. I could go on but I am limited on characters.

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was. I loved the decor, it was clean, new, modern and rustic. The staff were friendly. Check in was easy and my favorite part was the noon check out time! I used the hot tub and loved it had a "no kids allowed" adult until 11pm. I was traveling solo and felt safe and welcomed the whole time I was there.

Hotel Renovo falsely advertises as "private master suites," but there are NO doors on any of the master rooms. It was 80 outside and the heater was left on. There is 1 air unit by the window where the kids sleep, so they were freezing and the unprivate master suite and bathroom never cooled down. The bathroom door had a crack in it and huge gaps on the sides, so it was also not private. They have kitchen cabinets that are completely bare, so we had to request bowls and napkins. Breakfast was expensive, too. ***Parents with young kids - go stay at the Marriott hotels that actually have private 1- and 2-bedroom suites, air ducts in all the rooms, well-stocked kitchens, and free breakfast.

It was the worst experience ever and we have stay in a lot of hotels. We had an autistic child who knocked his tooth out and they called saying we need to be quiet. We explained it was our autistic grandson let us get him calmed down, they came right up admitted to standing at our door and listening told us this is your second one. Then preceded to say next time it will be the cops escorting you out. My grandson was bleeding everywhere calming him down takes time. We spent 300 dollars to turn lights out and whisper and my grandson leaving because of it. I do not recommend this hotel at all.
