We were not registered correctly. Got a very loud banging on door early Saturday morning. Sounded like a police raid. Basically accused of "squatting." We thought perhaps a family member had died. Then story changed to it was a "safety check." My daughter and I were shaking, very frightened by aggressive staff! Later found we were not registered by desk clerk correctly, although clerk at registration desk gave us room cards. Traumatic experience for us. Daughter is a 55 year old teacher, I am a 77 year old retired teacher. Not big threat!

I am very sorry to write this but we tried moving our stay to another day. We had another family function that we had to attend in Chicago, so we ended up losing our weekend and could not move our stay and we lost our money. I understand if we could not get a refund but we should have been able to move our stay to another weekend. Everything about college is expensive! Why do the hotels in a college towns make it so difficult to deal with. I’m pretty sure this room could have been booked 5 minutes after I canceled it! Ridiculous!!!!

We were there for a high school basketball tournament. Beds and room were great. With all of the kids in the hotel, we thought it would be noisy. Rooms were very quiet.

The hotel is way too expensive. On Illinois State family weekend they charge over $400 per night. That's ridiculous.

The hotel is amazing. Since we came in town on the train and have two little kids it was great to be so close to train station, Childrens Museum and restaurants. We arrived way before check in and asked for rooms close together. We were assigned rooms right off the elevator and in a row. It was a wonderful surprise because even tho we ask at other hotels they never get us too close together let alone adjoining.
The only complaint I have so far is after a full day of walking and kids we wanted to relax in our room with a cold soda. The vending machine was completely sold out of every beverage as well was the convenience store. With a full hotel someone dropped the ball there.
Otherwise it has been a wonderful stay

Rooms are great and clean. Pool was very cold so kids didn’t want to swim long. Also good at the bar was very over priced for the portion size you get.

Went to visit my daughter at ISU and brought my other kids with me so they could swim. The hotel was not busy, but they put us in a room right next to the elevator. (1st no-no). Then, the toilet didnt work. So I went to the front desk, they switched us rooms and gave us complimentary breakfast vouchers for the next day.
We get into the other room (which was way down on the other end of the floor) and the room had a very faint odor of vomit and a weird smear on the inside door. So I Lysol'd and wiped down everything and it was better. I put my daughter's meds in the fridge and got settled.
That night, my kids went swimming and we go to bed. I wake up the next morning and call the front desk to see what time breakfast ends. I'm told there is no breakfast because the chef didn't show up for work (huh?) Ok.....
So I still need coffee and they have a bodega in the lobby that said "We Proudly Brew Starbucks Coffee". I go downstairs, and its closed (What the?). It's only 9:30am.
So I walked across the street to the Hyatt where they have an actual Starbucks on the ground floor. I get back, my kiddos are up and I go to retrieve my daughters meds from the fridge. Low and behold.....the fridge wasn't even working. (Are you kidding me?)
We couldn't wait to check out at noon, but before I did I got the regional managers info. Marriott is supposed to be top of the line and our experience was far from. The staff was nice, that was the only postive but I wish i just booked at Hyatt.

I was extremely upset to discover after I arrived the pool was closed. I choose this hotel because of the pool for my kids to swim in. Also, the breakfast was terrible. Several items were out of stock. Including the milk. I had to look for my own sugar since I never saw my server.
