Hotel is very nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. It haa multiple levels so is not as assessable as other hotels but it's nice in an older fashioned way. The rooms are large and have comfortable beds. Bathrooms are very nice. The rooms had real chairs to sit in and a nice amount of rooms. No views but we are in the suburbs. Bedskirts were a little shabby and you will only get maid service if you ask which is fine for a few days stay. Very easy walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, and other shops like the Book Table. Oak Park is a nice place with real families, diversity and is a lovely park/garden filled place Very close to Frank Lloyd Wright home and office as well as all his houses on Forrest Avenue. The Unity Temple is very close. Nice people who said hello and smiled. Hotel does not have a laundry but the one around the corner was in great shape. They even have a wash and fold if you have other things to do

Headboard and table had very obvious dust on them- but the bathroom was very clean, and room was nicely tidy. Staff not able to assist on creating a comfortable temperature in our rooms (family members also has stays here), and when attempting to purchase bottled water from vending machine, only received diet pepsi, which was flat and out of date by nearly a year. Despite the age of building it was nicely quiet, and a conveniently close option to hop on the train.

This was the perfect place to stay. Restaurants, CTA, grocery stores, parks, shopping, and family all in walking distance. The hotel consists of 3 different buildings: The main Carleton and the Plaza Hotel are joined and there is a separate motor lodge. We had a king in the Plaza. The room was spacious with a small kitchenette (microwave, refrigerator, pod coffee maker, dishes and utensils). The bed was incredibly comfortable. There’s also 2 restaurants - fancy Italian and basic pub - on ground floor that you can charge to the room.

The local area was quite nice and pleasant and even on a bad day it only took 30 mins to get into the city. The hotel was doing minimal housekeeping which was not too bad as we were only stopping 2 days. The only issue we had was the stairs to get to the lift, this is not ideal with full suitcases and children. I would go back.

Nice location. Neighboring area very pleasing as you drive or walk around the area. Housing architecture, landscaping, trees, all very calming. Will definitely consider the Carleton again when family and friends are in town.

The hotel is old with many updates. Our room was furnished appropriately with a king size comfortable bed. The lobby was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Staff very friendly. We had a problem with pipes banging and other loud noises most likely related to the heating system. We had been out for the evening with family, prepared for bed and the loud banging started and continued sporstically throughout the night. Too late to change rooms at that time. I approached the front desk at check- out time, explained our issue and was told we would receive a check for a portion of our night's stay. We will see.
