We reserved one of the apartment suites knowing that we were going to have a long day & night visiting with friends and family on the west coast. All was fine up until the morning. Because we were out late the previous night, we were planning on sleeping in before checking out at noon. Unfortunately, we were abruptly awakened at 8:00 AM by the sound of furniture moving around above us. About every 30 minutes thereafter there was the loud sound of ripping, hammering and sawing. It appeared as if someone was replacing the floor above us, because it felt like they were going to drop in from the ceiling. When we eventually got out of bed I killed a roach that was crawling across the floor. Perhaps it was stirred up by all of the commotion. The construction continued up until we checked out at 11:30 AM. We mentioned it to the front desk, but the lady there was oblivious to any work being done at the hotel. I understand that this may be an isolated incident. Nevertheless, you would think the establishment would have the common courtesy to wait until their guests check out before doing construction work in the room above them.

I wish I remembered the names of the staff; however I will say the gentleman who assisted us with parking, (super cute and funny) the front desk and the restaurant staff were all friendly upbeat and outgoing.
The suite we reserved was perfect for myself my husband and two children.
My boys even commented on how they really liked the hotel. It had this nostalgic feeling and reminded me of the apartment I grew up in.
The restaurant and coffee shop did not disappoint; and the prices were very reasonable. Thank you all for a nice time. We will certainly visit again.

Hotel was unique, very clean, and the staff was great! Location is walkable to multiple restaurants and the waterfront. Room was perfect for my solo travel, however may not be ideal for a family with multiple children due to room size being on the smaller side.

Property is quaint and located in the heart of downtown St Pete. Great staff and very friendly. The rooms are extremely small best for a single person. Bathroom is tiny even for one person and the toilet is made for a child unfortunately. There’s only 3 outlets one being behind the bed. Would be nice if they added a small fridge in the room for water and leftovers from dining out. Parking is a quasi cluster unless you grab a handicap space or pull in right as someone is leaving. On the bright side they offer free bottled water :)

I loved that they served iced cold water and bottled water to everyone. I also liked that they were all friendly and willing to explain things. The check in and check out process is seamless. The ambiance is wonderful and the property is very clean. The staff always asks if you need help and they don’t hesitate to share details so the level of professionalism is great!
I would’ve loved a continental breakfast option. Also, I was misled about the shuttle. Initially they said it runs every 10 minutes but I waited for over 25 minutes and it never showed up. The woman at the front said it could take a while so it was best to Uber. I thought the point of a shuttle was the convenience, so that was disappointing. I also thought there would be a pool online but it’s next door connected with another hotel and it’s only 4 feet and super crowded. I definitely went to my family’s pool instead (13 minutes away) at their hotel. The elevator is a sauna and has no air conditioning. That is crazy because Tampa is Sauna City. It’s way too hot, so it’s much cooler to take the stairs. Lastly, there was some confusion by the staff about price. They kept telling me it was one price but the bank representative told me it’s another fee they were charging. The staff isn’t even aware that they charge an additional $65 fee to stay. That’s sad and then they unintentionally lie to the customers, which causes confusion. I would say better communication and training for employees is a must. Thats all

The Avalon was amazing! My parents and I stayed here (they were in a separate room), and we had a blast. In particular, Ethan was wonderful and gave us a great Mother's Day brunch suggestion. My family and I will be back and are excited to stay with you again.

We were in St Pete for a quick getaway with some family and after some research chose the Avalon. We weren't looking for some high end facility - more of a down home place and found it at the Avalon. The accommodations are OK, bed was comfortable and bathroom clean but small. The room was painted very dark and there was a lack of lighting, which consisted of one lamp and a dim ceiling light. The outstanding feature is the people who run/own it are very customer friendly. We found that they were very accommodating, helpful and welcoming. The location is also outstanding - within walking distance of several museums, the pier and countless restaurants. They also share amenities with the sister hotel next door. The breakfast there was also outstanding. All in all, we plan to return there when we visit St Pete.

Weber with family for several days ti explore St.Pete’s. The Avalon and sister property, Hollander, were excellent. We loved the casual and artsy atmosphere, room was very nice and cozy, and the restaurant was perfect with good food, dining indoor or out. We will definitely stay here again when visiting and have already referred to other family members.
