Embassy Suites Newark - Wilmington/South

Very cleanly and very friendly staff. The pool could have been cleaner but, it was a fun time for the family. Beds were pretty comfortable.

It has changed so much and not in a good way! The staff was great HOWEVER the pool was hard to enjoy! The walls were rusted and the caution tape around the jacuzzi made us cut the pool real short real quick! There was food and trash on the stairs like there was a food fight and the amount of kids running around unattended was unnerving! Not to mention music blasting until 2 am

The stay at the Embassy Suites in Wilmington was ok, but this hotel is in need of better maintenance and service. In regards to the maintenance, only one elevator was working at the property causing long wait times and the down button on our floor was broken. The ice machine on our floor was also broken and the couch in our suite had sediments on it and clearly needed to be re-vacuumed. The staff was generally nice, but often disturbed us in our room. During our first morning, the house cleaning staff knocked on our door to inquire about cleaning the room, and when they didn't receive a response proceeded to open our door without consent. Our family was here for a family reunion and was told there would be a happy hour as was consistent in the past, but when we arrived were informed that the property "lost the liquor license" and would not be serving alcohol. We made due without during that time, but felt that was deceitful from Embassy Suites. Overall the stay was ok and definitely could've have been better, but the other accommodations sufficed for our reunion.

Lighting in suite was insufficient. Furniture too high for a short person use top surface. Many children running around in halls yelling and fighting without supervision until very late at night. Good selection for breakfast. Staff at breakfast was excellent.

The hotel is nice and very roomy! However, you can tell the facilities are on the older side with a lot of wear and tear. Pros: Nice and roomy with a good price. The area is pretty quiet, and overall it’s pretty comfy. Cons: Old appliances (they could really change some of the toilet seats). The room did not seem super clean when we walked in. Small amount of dirt on the floor, and the bathroom smells a little weird. Also supplies like shampoo and conditioner were running very low in the bathroom, so it was not enough for 2 people. Swimming pool was nice, but a lot of foot traffic from the pool to the elevators, which made the front of elevator very wet, sort of unsafe especially for older people. Maybe place a carpet there to absorb some water? Overall, it’s a nice and pretty hotel for events and family vacation. The swimming pool got a lot likes from the kids.

My main disappointment was the pool. We have a 7 year old autistic child. He was only willing to take the trip because there was one. I called before going to verify it was open and was told it would be. When checking in we were told it was down for maintenance. on the following day we were told it was closed because some children had dumped shampoo in the pool. When we were checking out I heard someone from the front desk ask the maintenance person when it would be open and he laughed and said, "never." The body wash and conditioner dispensers were empty. There were not any bath mats. We reserved the room for 3 people but there were not any extra pillows for the fold out couch.

Super late check in time, one working extremely dirty and slow. Unsupervised kids running and screaming in the hallways. Poor sound proofing. Room cannot be aired out from the very concentrated and smelly cleanning solution fumes.
