On Saturday morning there were small kids hanging around the front desk. They were apparently the kids from the person running the front desk. They were running around and popping the graduation balloons and eating ice cream which dropped on the ground seemingly without the front desk person who we think was the mom not aware. Is Marriott now allowing family members to be around the work area and feeding them?

We visited during Memorial Day weekend and the pool and the hot tub were closed. We’ve stayed here before and were surprised to learn when we arrived it was closed during our stay. It was an okay stay, happy with cleanliness, parking, and proximity to beach. However with a young child who loves the pool that was a huge let down. Unsure if we’ll stay here again. Maybe time to check out other places on our bi annual visits to Santa Cruz.

We stayed for 9 nights and the place was cleaned only for one time..that too when we insisted.
I was told that "refreshing" is done every three days. But it seems that what they say at the counter is different than what actually cleaning personals are instructed.
The filter of the AC/Heater has not been changed and everyone in the family has allergy with runny nose.
Don't be fooled by Marriott brand--for profit and meeting cost-savings targets, services and breakfast quality has turned pathetic. Will never stay at Bonvoy

A nice visit to Santa Cruz and good stay at Fairfield took a bad turn when our room key cards were deactivated.
We had been at the beach in the morning and came back for a swim to find our keys not working.
Went back to the lobby to sort this out. The line of guests forming at the desk heard the receptionist on the phone for some time. When the receptionist was finished on the phone, he came out to a line people...and then took another phone call.
I waited patiently in line and finally was helped by the receptionist.
He suggested the cards were near a cell phone and deactivated.
We travel quite a lot and are aware of this, therefore, we never keep key cards near our phones.
After sorting out the cards, I asked for a late check out. Over 30 minutes of precious time had been wasted sorting out the keys and we were looking forward to visiting the pool.
The receptionist clearly stated "no late check out".
So I went back to the hallway in front of our room and told my family that there was now no time for the pool and we should get ready and check out. This news did not go well.
At check out, the same receptionist was at the desk.
I asked the receptionist about the "Fairfield Guarantee". He had no idea what I was talking about. I showed him these words are literally on the door of the hotel. He still had no idea what the words meant.
Then he went on to say there was a problem with key cards being deactivated and late check out was for Elite Marriott members.
I used to be Elite

Rented 2 rooms for family. We had accidently rented at the Santa Cruz and Catatola hotels, instead of both at Santa Cruz. Charles at Santa Cruz was so helpful as was the manager at Catatola. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean.
The tea tree oil products were a little strong smelling, but overall the experience was great.

My niece lives on Western so this hotel was convenient. Because it's in west Santa Cruz I was surprised at the high price vs. the actual room, the size of the pool, and jacuzzi, and the service was terrible. No one cleaned my room when I left in the morning and I didn't accidentally leave the please-do-not-disturb sign on my door. I came back to the room as I left it. I called the front desk and was told I had to ask for my room to be cleaned by housekeeping. What? Check out: the time is 11:00. I left my room at 10:20 to get a baggage dolly and came back only to find that my key no longer worked. What? The service at the front desk? Surly. I arrived at 2:30 to ask if I could check in early. I walked in right after a family had been checked in early. The attendant was on his personal cell phone and kept looking down despite my presence and his being only about a foot away from me. I waited. I then asked whether this was where I checked in to which he said only, "It's early to be checking in." There is no sign noting it's the front desk or where customers check in. He finally checked and my room was ready. Check-in is at 3:00. Brother. As I was leaving, no one was at the front desk. I waited. I finally asked if anyone was in the back. Someone said, "I'm on the phone." Not, "I'll be right with you as soon as I get off the phone." OR "Sorry, I'm on the phone. I left. I decided that I'd give my feedback here as she didn't seem interested in helping me.

I picked this location because it was in a quiet area of town. A baby was screaming from 6:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. in the room next to us. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. It was way too early to move rooms. I replied to the email that was sent to me from Fairfield Inn to review my stay. The response that I received back from Morgan P. was very disappointing. This was the start of her response
"When you stay at hotels you know the risks you face. Babies are off limits in our world. So we move the one being affected or the problem is
something that can not be fixed the way anyone wants us to. It is the risk of staying in a public hotel. I have kids and so do most so the possibility of this scenario is always there. I am sorry you feel this way
but the public should know and understand the risk of staying in a public hotel. Sorry you went through this. Normally I would offer some sort of
compensation but you booked through a third party website, not direct, so if you are looking for compensation of some sort you would need to talk to
EXPEDIA. Again, sorry you had this experience. Have a nice day."
That was the rest of her email. I felt it was rude, short, and very dismissive for a chain of that caliber. I will never stay in a Marriot again and I will never book at this chain for any of my clients or employees. It was amazing that one person can reflect so poorly on her company. I copied that email to this review, so you can see her poor grammar.

Great place for a family vacation! Loved everything about this hotel! The breakfast was pretty good, my kids loved the fresh waffles. The bed could have been a little softer, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Very very clean! Loved it! We will definitely stay again!

Courtyard Marriott was clean and comfortable. It was a short walk from the boardwalk. Definitely recommend to any families looking for a nice hotel within walking distance to the fun!
