Signature Inn Oakland

We were very happy with the stay. We came to Berkeley to drop of our kid and the gate was very important as we were able to leave her stuff in the car overnight.

The first thing I noticed was the locked metal gate requiring a code to enter. Not a safe neighborhood? The night person immediately let me in. My room was next to the entrance and the check in. Parking was conveniently in front of my room. A queen bed, TV (which I was unable to access). (Couldn’t find the right button), no chair or table, a small fridge, powdered coffee and coffee maker but no carafe. Bathroom all the usual fixtures. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Walls were exceedingly thin; screaming small children in the next room. Conveniently only two miles from my early morning appointment but no place I would stay on a real vacation.

I was visiting family nearby so wanted something convenient. Oakland can be a bit dangerous but the Inn is safe. Only issue is getting access if you are not driving. There is no bell to ring to gain access when you check in. I had to knock on the window to gain entry. Then you get a code for unlocking both the main gates and your room. Decent restaurants nearby, especially the beignets at Brenda's and Piedmont is just 10 mins walk away with some excellent shops and cafes. If you just want somewhere to sleep this is a good option.
